The Exploration Project Geologist is a critical leadership position within the exploration team. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive geological studies and assessments to support exploration projects. Reporting directly to the Exploration Operations Manager, the Exploration Project Geologist will play a pivotal role in data collection, interpretation, and identification of potential mineral deposits. Additionally, this position will foster the personal and professional development of geology team members, ensure technical leadership for the project, and effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders and technical collaborators.

Includes but not limited to:
•    Geological Assessments: Conduct comprehensive geological assessments of exploration project sites to identify mineralization potential. Analyze geological data, including rock samples, core samples, and geophysical data, to inform strategic recommendations. 
•    Data Collection and Management: Oversee the collection and management of geological data through fieldwork, sampling, and laboratory analysis. Maintain accurate and organized geological databases to support informed decision-making.
•    Drilling Program Leadership: Collaborate with drilling teams to design and supervise drilling activities, ensuring alignment with geological objectives and adherence to safety standards. Provide guidance to team members on effective drilling strategies and techniques.
•    Mineralization Identification and Resource Estimation: Identify and classify mineral deposits based on geological observations and analytical data. Assist in estimating mineral resources and reserves, employing industry-standard methodologies.
•    Technical Collaboration and Coordination: Lead technical collaboration and coordination with the head office, technical experts, consultants, and other technical collaborators involved in the project. Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives, technical requirements, and progress updates.
•    Technical Reporting and Presentation: Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations summarizing geological findings and exploration progress. Communicate exploration insights effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
•    Stakeholder Management: Engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, and partners. Ensure that stakeholder concerns are addressed and that exploration activities align with regulatory requirements.
•    Mapping and Modeling: Lead the creation of geological maps and 3D models to visualize geological structures and mineralization patterns. Utilize geological modeling software for precise resource estimation and interpretation.
•    Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during fieldwork and exploration activities. Promote a culture of safety within the exploration team through training and adherence to safety protocols.
•    Team Development and Mentorship: Mentor and develop the competencies of geology team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members.


 

Compétences

Mandatory skills and requirements for this position:
Education and Experience:
•    Master’s degree in Geology or a related field.
•    Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Exploration Geology, with a demonstrated track record of success in mineral exploration projects.
•    Previous leadership experience and management skills.
Technical Skills:
•    Proficient in geological data analysis and interpretation, including geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets.
•    Strong understanding of drilling techniques and the ability to design and implement efficient drilling programs.
•    Familiarity with exploration 3D modeling software (e.g., MICROMINE, LEAPFROG) and geological database management systems (e.g., ACQUIRE).
•    Experience in gold exploration projects.
•    Comprehensive understanding of geological instruments, techniques, and data interpretation.
Leadership and Communication:
•    Proven leadership abilities with strong interpersonal skills, including experience in mentoring and developing team members.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French, with the ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations.
•    Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with stakeholders.
