The role of the Maintenance Planner - Materials exist to ensure that the supply of materials meet the maintenance work schedule and minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity.

The Maintenance planner – Materials will ensure strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of parts meets specifications and requirements. And will work under general supervision, reviewed by Management. 

He or She will be responsible for determining all material specifications, creating, and maintaining inventories schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.

•    Be able to work hand in hand with other colleagues. 
•    Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production line as and when required, avoiding disruption to production.
•    Generate and communicate supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands.
•    Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
•    Develop and implement processes and work with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Support assessment and sourcing of suppliers in conjunction with members of the purchasing team
•    Support supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure demand for materials is met.
•    Resolve supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance in conjunction with members of the purchasing team.

•    Schedule the supply of materials/components to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels. 
•    Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate processes for material delivery from supplier to point of fit.
•    Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions. 
•    Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries 
•    Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule.
•    Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect maintenance activities.
•    Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.
•    Utilize any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system that is in place and ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required.
•    Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.

•    Monitor inventory levels against agreed target levels.
•    Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy. 
•    Minimize obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability. 
•    Create regular statistical reports and analysis and update others in the organization.
•    Develop opportunities to improve the maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
•    Provide maintenance planning support for the department and sites as required.
•    Monitor the maintenance PM tasks for emerging issues; liaise with the sites and assist where necessary to enhance end users’ knowledge, SAP data integrity and maintenance strategies.
•    Assists in tracking the KPI’s: PM completion rate, Weekly Schedule Compliance, Backlog, Spare Part Inventory Turns, Cost/Unit and Unscheduled Downtime; reports key issues.   
•    Provides input to plant management for the preparation and adjustment of the maintenance operating budget accounts, procedures, or optimal organizational structures.
•    Develop, maintain, and report maintenance plans and schedules using dashboards/metrics, and ensure targets are being achieved. Including deadlines for notifications, orders, completion confirmations, and maintenance work.
•    Promote and build a positive & co-operative working relationship with all departments, keeping safety, production, and costs as primary elements to meet the mine plan.
•    Develop and maintain positive work relationships within the team.
•    Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and assist in the development of job procedures as required.

Études et expérience

•    First degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related qualification from a recognized institution. 
•    Possess a valid Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills and ability.     
•    Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in a mining industry and an exposure to Engineering Maintenance and Materials Management.
•    Has the skill of quality job execution, and able to plan jobs in coordination with colleagues and other Departments.
•    Knowledgeable in modern ERP/ Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS software) and the linkage of assets, work orders, maintenance policies, min/max levels, history information and data management. 
•    Strong computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, MS Project). 
•    Good Management and Planning Skills, Leadership Skills, Writing and Presentation Skills. 
•    Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependencies 
•    Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar.
•    Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
