Job Summary

As the Superintendent, Site Services for the Great Bear Project you will provide leadership, planning, and overall accountability for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of site services. The role leads the operation, maintenance, and repair oversight of surface infrastructure, facilities and utilities, logistics, yard operations, waste management, water treatment, and associated maintenance activities, and provides direction to the Supervisor, Site Services internal crews, and contractors. Until the start of main project construction, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of site infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and non-core operational assets following handover from Project, supporting underground development and exploration including the operation of the 13km Chukuni Pipeline, worker camp and associated effluent treatment system. Upon project transition into full operations, you will assume full accountability for non-core operational assets following handover from Project.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide leadership, planning, and direction for site services team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the worker camp, yards, roads, utilities, logistics, site-wide waste management, and non-core infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute site services budgets, plans, preventative maintenance programs, and resource requirements in alignment with operational priorities. Support to the Projects team on an as-needed basis.
  • Establish and monitor service levels and key performance indicators for safety, environmental compliance, asset reliability, maintenance completion, cost, budget schedule; identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide oversight of contracts and contractors related to site services’ areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and implement contingency and business continuity planning for utility outages, equipment failures, severe weather, transportation disruptions, and other events that could affect site services.
  • Lead, coach, and hold accountable the Site Services Supervisor(s) and internal crews; establish clear roles, rotation handovers, staffing plans, training requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Participate in the development and execution of the Operational Readiness Plan for surface infrastructure, including maintenance strategies, procedures, staffing, training, spares, and service continuity.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in site services, facilities, infrastructure, maintenance, logistics, or related functions within mining, construction, or industrial environments, including 3-5 years in a supervisory or superintendent capacity.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and contractors in a remote operating environment, during the start up phase, is required. 
  • A technical diploma, trade certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience in mining, mechanical systems, and/or facilities management is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of site services support equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, generators, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems and maintenance best practices.
  • Knowledge of materials-handling practices, lifting and rigging requirements, and safe equipment operation.
  • Experience with contractor management and project execution in remote mining environments.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply operating manuals and procedures.

Work Conditions

This position is based in Red Lake, Ontario. Local candidates, or those willing to relocate, with relocation assistance, will be given priority for this position. The schedule for this position is 14X14, 12 hour days. 

 

Compensation and Total Rewards

The base salary for the Superintendent, Site Services is $140,000.00 to $170,000.00 + Short Term Incentive, + Long Term Incentive, + Group Benefit Coverage.
