Purpose of Role

 

The Senior Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for implementing and monitoring strategic sourcing to create value, realize cost savings and champion compliance across sites. Located in Toronto, Ontario, this role will report to the strategic sourcing lead and work closely with site stakeholders and the corporate supply chain team.  

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop sourcing and contracting plans in coordination with departments and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of effective procurement programs for strategic spend categories. 
  • Execute sourcing and contracting strategies and processes, including RFx’s/Tenders, negotiating commercial and legal terms, evaluations and award recommendations, and agreements. 
  • Identify cost savings through effective negotiation strategies, supplier consolidation, and process improvements helping to identify opportunities to create value beyond price reductions through improved quality, service, and safety. 
  • Research and qualify prospective suppliers by evaluating products, services, and performance according to business requirements. 
  • Manage relationships with key third party providers to meet business challenges and identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Analyze industry supply and demand trends to support the development and implementation of effective sourcing strategies. 
  • Monitor and update key performance indicators for cost savings, supplier performance and process efficiency. 
  • Develop and maintain enhanced spend and market data analytics to drive improved decision making and procurement performance. 
  • Support with the development and implementation of demand planning and forecasting processes for improved strategic sourcing and category management across sites. 
  • Develop and maintain all documentation required to support compliance requirements and effective contract life-cycle management for strategic spend categories. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required. 
  • Travel up to 20% of time. 

 

Education, Experience & Skills

 

  • University or College degree in Supply Chain, Business or Economics plus related certification, professional designation, or certification in related area an asset. 
  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant work experience in procurement in the mining sector and or heavy industry. 
  • Demonstrated high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize work and meet commitments. 
  • Good understanding of negotiation strategies, commercial & legal principles as relates to contracting. 
  • Template identification, RFP and contract development and negotiation for high value packages, preferably for an operating mine or comparable industry. 
  • Spend analysis to identify sourcing opportunities to develop procurement plan(s). 
  • Excellent inter-personal & communication skills with ability to facilitate a cooperative team. 
  • Able to convey messages in an organized, clear, and succinct way. 
  • Experience with SAP Ariba and ERP systems (SAP/JDE). 
  • Ability to speak a second language preferred (French or Spanish ideal). 
  • Experience at a major mining company working in multi-site international environment preferred.
