Job Description

 

The Asset Management Manager executes on the vision of the Maintenance function by guiding and coordinating the direction of the Kinross Way for Maintenance at a global level through standardization of business processes, measures, systems and interfaces.

They provide guidance and support to site Maintenance management to ensure they are moving up the maturity scale of the Kinross Way for Maintenance. This support includes leadership of the Maintenance Advisory Team, on-site support for critical maintenance improvement projects, delivering training, owning the Maintenance Rotational Development Program and standardized insight-driven reporting. There is heavy integration with the IT group for any system changes relating to maintenance. 

They are the champion of the Kinross Way for Maintenance, working in alignment with other team members and functional Business Process Owners (HR, Finance, and Supply Chain) to ensure the consistent application of Maintenance processes. 

The Asset Management Manager works closely with the Vice President, Maintenance and CI and maintenance teams globally to ensure the enablement of maintenance through the proper use of business systems, tools and technology within the framework of Asset Management.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to/supports the long-term vision/strategy on asset management tools, technologies and systems
  • Support Asset Management and/or reliability improvement initiatives as needed by the business
  • Support sites globally in the use of JD Edwards specifically related to optimizing the application of the system for better supporting maintenance activities like Preventive Maintenance, Planned Components Replacements, Shutdown Management, etc.
  • Analyze JD Edwards enhancement requests and works with IT to develop the best strategy to satisfy customer needs
  • Lead the Maintenance Change Advisory Board and participate in the Maintenance Advisory Team, including leading the Maintenance Advisory Team as required
    • Chair the Maintenance Advisory Team (MAT), composed of ~50+ experts in maintenance, both plant and mobile, from around the company (including Maintenance Managers, Planning Superintendents, IT and JDE experts, Supply Chain representatives, etc.). The role of the MAT has been and continues to be to develop and implement the Kinross Way for Maintenance, and to share best practices in maintenance across the company
    • Promote the continued development and implementation of the Kinross Way for Maintenance, conducting site visits, workshops and conference calls with members of the Maintenance Advisory Team
  • Direct the leadership of the BPO Change Advisory Team to establish the JDE global data and configuration standards, and system customization/enhancement decisions to effectively support Kinross Way business processes.
  • Prepare the agenda and organize any planned Maintenance Conferences, including selection of topics and speakers, presentation content, etc.
  • Take co-lead in any asset management process-related change initiatives
  • Act as representative for Maintenance in business process optimization exercises
  • Advise on the integration of Maintenance processes with other organizational processes (HR, Finance, and Supply Chain)
  • Ensure effective implementation and application of the Asset Management module in JD Edwards, especially for active implementation projects
  • Lead the development and implementation of a standardized Key Performance Indicator reporting system to measure the effectiveness and usage of the Maintenance BPO processes and JD Edwards system

Key Activities

 

  • Support VP, Global Maintenance and CI in Program development and realization of value
  • Participate in Asset Management Peer Reviews evaluating mine site alignment to the Kinross Way for Maintenance Standards
  • Participates on the Maintenance JD Edwards project team on JD Edwards implementations, providing guidance and governance to each site on how to align to the Kinross Way for Maintenance
  • Support the Maintenance Corporate Team on developing mobile and fixed equipment analysis including but not limited to TCO’s, Reliability Analysis, PM’s Optimization Analysis, Asset Management Internal/External Benchmarking, etc. 
  • Work with sites to coach staff to support the Kinross Way for Maintenance where needed
  • Support the definition, implementation and governance of Kinross Way KPIs
  • Support implementation for other Maintenance related IT platforms such as Xeras, Business Intelligence, Mobility, etc.
  • Participate in the Corporate Technology Advisory Board
  • Provide guidance to the sites on implementation of new tools, technologies and systems related to Maintenance and be able to provide industry best practices recommendations
  • Document and communicate Maintenance business process changes and additions
  • Identify, initiate, and perform Kinross Way for Maintenance process and JD Edwards system training when required
  • Function as the key contact and point of escalation (when required) for Maintenance business processes at Kinross
  • Facilitate change management
  • Review and address integration issues between various processes and function

Education and Experience

 

  • University degree in mechanical, industrial, mechatronics, and/or electrical engineering
  • Specialized studies in asset management and reliability is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of related work experience or equivalent
  • Expertise in the use on major ERP packages and related EAM or CMMS modules, preferably JD Edwards.
  • Prior business process reengineering or process definition experience; mapping and measuring existing processes, analyzing and modifying, designing new processes, and implementing new processes
  • Previous experience influencing and effectively communicating with internal and external customers, vendors, project teams and senior management
  • Experience with Zero Based Budgeting concepts and software (preferably XERAS) is highly desirable
  • Experience working within site level execution or planning teams in the mining industry is highly desirable

  • Understanding of Asset Management and Reliability principles
  • Working knowledge of process documentation software (Industry Prints, Visio, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong and pragmatic negotiation skills
  • Ability to define and lead project based workshops 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude, always aiming to overcome challenges to achieved expected outcomes
