Job Description
Reporting to the Cost & Contract Administration Manager, the Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for end-to-end commercial administration of engineering, construction and related services contracts. The role provides cost forecasting, estimating and trend management, to ensure that commercial, cost and schedule objectives are achieved and that issues and risks are proactively identified, quantified and mitigated.
This position is initially based out of Toronto, with periodic rotations to site. Full site rotations are expected to begin in Q2 2027.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer and manage multiple contract types across engineering, construction and site services scopes
- Develop a detailed understanding of the scope, schedule, budget and risks for applicable contracts
- Organize and chair contract kick-off meeting.
- Ensure all required documentation and approvals are in place prior to contractor mobilization
- Manage any vendor or contractor change requests and support the Project in performing cost and schedule analysis of proposed changes in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain contract-specific quantity and costs forecast and in collaboration with the responsible engineers or superintendents, ensuring that trends and changes are raised and reported
- Review payment certificates and contract forecasts
- Administer claims in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions
- Maintain various contract registers, including management of any securities and guarantees
- Ensure proper and timely management of the contract close-out process
- Maintain alignment with project controls functions, collaborating with cost control and scheduling
- Identify and escalate risks, and provide input to mitigation plans and actions
- Ensure process and documentation integrity by adhering to project and corporate requirements.
- Build and develop effective working relationships with contractor counterparts
- Provide coaching and leadership on effective contract administration practices to the Project team
Education and Experience
- Degree in engineering, business administration or related field
- At least 15 years of experience in contractor administration and cost control on mining or heavy industrial projects
Additional Skill and Experience:
- Extensive expertise in all aspects of contract administration, cost control and project management
- Strong negotiation skills, and able to manage commercial discussions firmly and professionally
- Excellent judgement, with the ability to balance contract terms with long term project goals.
- Proven influence and communications skills
- Ability to interact with all stakeholders with transparency, tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrated ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be attentive to detail
- Focus on problem-solving, identifying risks and solutions/mitigations
Compensation & Total Rewards
The base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000 CAD + Short Term Incentive Bonus + Group Benefits Coverage
The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role.
