Job Description

 

The individual will provide mechanical engineering support for development projects, in both study and detailed phases. Although the focus will be on mechanical engineering, the individual may provide other engineering and project support services.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop basic drawings, design concept sketches, and perform basic design calculations.
  • Coordinate, gather, and compile multi-discipline design review comments. 
  • Assist the project team in performing trade-off studies by preparing financial models and preparing brief analysis reports and presentations.
  • Travel to Kinross sites to support projects and develop scopes of work.
  • Review project documents (policies, standards, specifications, drawings, data sheets) related to mechanical and piping systems to assure they meet project and Kinross objectives.
  • Explore industry trends and perform market research for the latest technology on mechanical systems and guide engineers on opportunities to add value, improve productivity and safety.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Executive management under guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules, budgets, and technical reports.
  • The role will require approximately one week of travel per month to Kinross’ operations and projects. 

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
