Job Description
Manages the global Business Performance Management process, ensuring alignment between mine sites and corporate Technical Services. Specific focus on performance vs. plan and key areas of focus to de-risk production and cost plans. This role applies analytical insights and data management to proactively provide early indications of any variances in production performance that may lead to a loss of value.
The role works independently, in collaboration with our operations and/or projects teams to identify, implement and track improvements at operating sites, manage large datasets and advance company goals, as needed. The role provides insights and recommendations to inform key decision-making at senior levels.

Job Responsibilities
1.
Actively support corporate business performance management to track key performance data and drive operational improvement across the organization:
- Develops and maintains executive-level operating and project-level dashboards which consolidate multiple data sources into an easy-to-read format.
- Supports the global ConnectedMine initiative, serving as a key resource to users, and helping to manage the corporate instance of the software.
- Improves operational data management, with a focus on using data to improve decision making.
- Provides ad-hoc operational analysis in support of IR, SBP, Operations and other global functions.
- Proactively interprets business performance metrics and leverages operational experience to flag emerging risks / opportunities early.
- Works in collaboration with operations and corporate functions to advance continuous improvement programs focused on our most critical risks/opportunities.
- Supports corporate and site IT to implement systems and processes, as required.
- Applies understanding of key operational metrics to establish a fit-for-purpose cadence for executive-level engagement and promoting accountability.
- Leverages both operational, technical and financial expertise to work jointly with mine planning and other technical functions to evaluate tactical optimization opportunities and implement at our operations.
- Looks for opportunities to improve processes and systems.

- Proactively manages planning databases to improve efficiency around plan reviews and plan-to-plan comparisons.
- Works collaboratively with IT to manage Databricks database of costs/production metrics for each plan iteration.
- Engages with site team members to enhance plan reviews and provide dashboards to support improved plan digestion and year-over-year comparison.

Lead the execution of the strategy for geologic data systems across Kinross:
- Provide leadership in development and implementation of standard practices in the capture, maintenance and integrity of all forms of geologic data.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance / quality control protocols and systems for all geologic data, to ensure a sound foundation for resource models and other applications.
- Train and supervise data management personnel to ensure quality standards throughout the company.
- Identify and recommend new resource system and GIS technology to enhance and maximize the use of all geologic and exploration data
- Train geologists and database administrators in the management, visualization and presentation of geologic data.
- Develop, disseminate and maintain tools and systems that enhance the utility of geologic data for all users.
- Actively monitors developments in the industry related to geologic data systems.
- Management of multiple technological projects simultaneously.

Other, general support as required:
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Manages the flow of information between the sites. Drives and facilitates discussions around best practices.
- Uses developing knowledge of Kinross operations to support sites, pressure-test business models etc.
- Analyzes and interprets data (e.g., operating metrics such as tons hauled; equipment efficiency; downtime due to maintenance, operating constraints and suboptimal performance).
- Assists in identifying cost savings opportunities and building full potential cost models.
- Responds to a variety of internal and / or external requests, many of which will not be standard and will require advanced problem-solving approaches.
- Prepares straightforward communication materials, manuals, and other written materials related to evaluations, technical issues, programs, or systems
- Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, IT or finance or a related field. Additional specialized education (CFA/CPA), masters level degree (specifically an MBA) or equivalent would be beneficial
- Five to Eight years of experience in the mining industry, preferably with progressive experience in a project/operations environment (corporate or site-level)
Skills
- Expert level skills in Excel: perform analysis to pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint
- Proficiency with PowerBI and Databricks
- Proficiency in RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) especially with acQuire
- Working knowledge of a second language, preferably Spanish, but also Portuguese or French
- Operations and strategy analysis experience including developing and analyzing financial and full potential models
- Understanding of financial statements and mining concepts
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills set: ability to complete a design of experiments, logistical regression, modeling, statistically literate etc.
- Proven team leadership skills and/or project management ability
- Ability to interact effectively with Senior Management
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in the mining industry and/or a major consultancy is strongly preferred
- Ability to learn quickly
- Flexibility in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle significant variation in workload
- Experience supervising or mentoring financial or consulting employees
- Well organized, works well independently and in team settings
- Possesses good time-management skills, and is able to work effectively under pressure
- Conversational French, Spanish, or Portuguese is a major asset, but not a requirement.
- Ability to function within the following travel requirements: periodic travel to remote mine sites in Mauritania, Chile, Brazil, Nevada, Washington State, and Alaska. The expectation is that the role will require up to 1 week of travel out of every 4 weeks.
Compensation and Total Rewards
The base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $145,000 CAD plus a target bonus of 25% and group benefit coverage.
The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
