Job Description

 

The Gold Rush Corporate Internship Program is an opportunity for ambitious students who are currently enrolled in a Business - Accounting/Finance program at a Canadian academic institution, and who are highly interested in the mining industry.

 

This program provides:

  • Opportunities working closely with various departments in Kinross’ Corporate Office in Toronto, Ontario gaining real-world experience in an exciting, dynamic industry.
  • Orientation and exposure to Kinross’ culture, goals, objectives and initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience working for one of the world’s largest gold-mining companies, where the work you will be doing truly has an impact.

  • The student hired for this role will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Advisory.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

The Finance Intern will assist the Financial Reporting and Advisory functions of the Kinross finance department:

 

  • Participation in the 2024 year end and 2025 first quarter external financial reporting process.
  • Assist in the preparation of other corporate financial reporting and/or disclosures including the Annual Information Form, Management Information Circular, Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reports, and Sustainability/Corporate Responsibility reports.
  • Analysis of financial information.
  • Assistance with other ad-hoc requests and analysis.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • 2nd or 3rd year Business - Accounting/Finance (or related) program from a recognized educational institution with an excellent academic record.

 

Skills

 

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to undertake various tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to learn quickly and to work well in a team environment.     
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Spanish, French, or Portuguese language abilities would also be an asset.
