Purpose of Role
The goal of the Corporate Development Team is to identify, assess and execute business-enhancing corporate transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and equity investments involving mining assets or related infrastructure) that are aligned with Kinross’ broader corporate strategy.
Summer Intern, Corporate Development provides general support for all corporate development processes including financial modeling and analysis, preparation of summary presentation materials, due diligence processes, and department administrative support.
Job Responsibilities
1. Corporate Model;
Assist with reviews and updates of the Corporate Model
Assist with analysis and interpretation of financial projections related to the corporate model, including liquidity forecasting and various scenario analysis
2. Due diligence support;
Collect technical, financial, and market data related to due diligence opportunities
Assist with the compilation and analysis of financial and technical due diligence related data for the evaluation of potential opportunities, including financial filings, technical studies and industry reports
Assist with the development of summary materials and presentations including business proposals to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
3. Other analysis and responsibilities;
Contribute to special projects, as required
Work is complex involving both routine tasks and unique projects. In all cases, the Summer Intern is expected to ensure assigned projects are completed on-time, and to a high standard. Work is performed under varying degrees of supervision and requires judgement and adaptability.
Education and Experience
Education & Experience
- Currently enrolled in a university degree in Engineering, Geology, Finance, or Accounting
- Interest and familiarity with the mining industry and capital markets
Skills
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly, flexibility in fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision, including good time-management skills
