Job Description
KG Exploration is the Greenfield arm in Canada for Kinross Gold. KG Exploration currently has a number of early-stage gold exploration projects in the Snow Lake area in northern Manitoba, and in the Dryden and Red Lake regions of Western Ontario. The work to be conducted on the properties in summer 2026 will primarily consist in geological mapping & prospecting. This is an early call for applicants in preparation for a busy field season. KG Exploration is seeking interest from motivated students (undergraduate and graduate) in Geology or Geoscience to join our team. The Geological Field Assistant positions would be a great stepping stone for any undergraduate student. There will also be Contract Geologist positions that would be suitable for finishing undergraduate students or current graduate students with the right experience.
Our summer students and contract geologists are a key part of our summer Exploration team. Reporting to the project geologist, your will participate in conducting various exploration activities and work collaboratively with other team members to improve our geological understanding of the properties.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Geologist, the geological assistants and field geologist will support various geoscience activities for the summer field program. This will be 3-4 months field-based seasonal work assignment; from May until August.
Field Assistant Duties

Assisting with a variety of geological activities including mapping and prospecting

Geological sampling and data entry

Undertaking sample submission, quality control and shipment tracking

Other duties as required
Working Conditions
This position will require that staff travels through Winnipeg; crews will then drive to and from their field base (Snow Lake/ Dryden/ Red Lake) for each rotation. The rotational schedule will be 22 days in and 12 days out, with travel occurring on work time. The nature and duties of this role are subject to change as program progresses. The company provides all accommodations, travel expenses and food.
Education and Experience
- Enrolment in a BSc. Program in geology, geological science or earth science
- Familiar with basic geological concepts such as rock and mineral identification
- Excellent work ethic and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong commitment to working in a safe and socially responsible manner
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push 35kg
- Ability to frequently reach below and at shoulder level
- Able to work in a remote camp setting on a rotational basis
- Possession of a drivers license
Compensation & Total Rewards
The base salary range for this role is $44,226 to $60,060 CAD, plus 4% vacation pay.
The hiring range reflects our targeted compensation framework for the role. The actual offer will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate’s experience, capabilities, and potential impact, along with consideration of internal equity, team structure, and benchmark market data for similar positions.
