Job Description
The Kinross IT organization is actively developing innovative solutions by harnessing the capabilities of modern cloud technologies. Our team is responsible for building, securing, and modernizing the foundational infrastructure that supports our core business systems.
This position is highly hands-on, with approximately 90% of each day dedicated to direct technical implementation. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about continuous improvement and who will advocate for optimal technology choices that align with and support the strategic objectives of our business.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, scalable cloud infrastructure to support both corporate tooling and global mine sites, ensuring alignment with performance, reliability, and maintainability standards on an ongoing basis.
- Evaluate existing technologies and workflows to identify areas for improvement, and develop strategic plans to optimize system performance and operational efficiency.
- Assess on-premise systems to uncover opportunities for modernization and greater efficiency through the adoption of cloud-based technologies.
- Architect and engineer resilient, secure cloud solutions, adhering to industry best practices and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement robust cloud security strategies to ensure infrastructure is protected and compliant with applicable standards and corporate policies.
- Advance automation initiatives to streamline environment provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle maintenance processes.
- Facilitate the adoption of modern cloud architectures by guiding downstream teams in applying the patterns and frameworks developed by the cloud engineering group.
- Collaborate closely with Data and AI teams to enable effective use of innovative cloud services that support analytics, machine learning, and intelligent automation initiatives.
- Provide production support for services operating within the cloud ecosystem, ensuring stability, performance, and rapid issue resolution.
Education and Experience
- 3+ years working on building scalable cloud infrastructure
- Exceptional teamwork; you have to be a team player and enjoy collaborating closely with team members
- Hands-on experience with a public cloud offering (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Experience provisioning, managing and leveraging distributed logging, monitoring, and dashboarding tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch
- Experience with IAC (We are using Terraform, but ARM, BICEP, CloudFormations work as well.)
- Experience building and maintaining a pipeline (We use Azure DevOps)
- Experience with Windows Administration
Skills
- Strong verbal, written, analytical skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
- Business acumen
- Experience implementing automated security monitoring and remediation solutions
- Some Azure certifications
- MS SQL database operational experience in the cloud
- Experience with container solutions such as Docker
- Strong Bias towards security.
