Job Description
As part of the global Total Rewards and Talent Management Team, provides support, analysis and administration for local, global and executive compensation programs, equity plans, pension and benefit plans, and performance and talent management.
Job Responsibilities
Local Rewards Programs
- Manages the ongoing analysis and administration of rewards programs for one or more countries:
- Job evaluations, compensation recommendations, project/other bonus programs, equity incentive programs, etc.
- Aligns local compensation structures to their respective markets and supports business needs while working within Kinross’ global frameworks
- Completes an annual review of target compensation levels (salary structure and short- and long-term incentive targets) and reviews total compensation (including other cash, pension and benefits) on an as-needed basis, identifying opportunities for improvement, and making recommendations.
- Manages the annual compensation review (merit increases, short- and long-term incentives, and other ad-hoc or lump-sum recommendations) by serving as a central point of information; providing support and guidance to the local HR teams through communication and training; and providing required reporting to local HR teams and the Global Leads.
- Ensures the planning process meets all deadlines and is completed in harmony with global guidelines and philosophy.
- Completes system testing, delivers training (to HR and/or managers as needed), reviews data quality, etc. to ensure a high-quality end-product and a smooth process for HR and managers.
- Provides feedback to the Global Leads and makes recommendations to ensure the annual process meets local needs.
Local Support
- Provides support for local Operator/Skilled Trade compensation programs as needed.
- Stays current on local compensation trends and legislative requirements and makes recommendations as needed.
- Assists with annual budget and/or strategic business planning process to ensure that compensation is appropriately planned.
- Builds and maintains relationships with local HR teams by having a strong understanding of business challenges and direction applicable to their site to ensure compensation practices are meeting their respective needs.
- Supports local HR teams in addressing various people matters with compensation strategies where appropriate.
- Provides creative solutions and insights, and helps to integrate compensation into a broader, strategic HR solution.
- Sources market data and completes specific market analysis or internal equity analysis as needed to address concerns.
- Leads and/or participates in projects relating to rewards programs (compensation and/or pension and benefits) as needed.
- Assists local HR teams in addressing questions and concerns from employees and/or managers regarding total rewards programs by providing training and communication materials to local HR teams as needed; adapting global tools and/or developing new ones as required to meet their respective needs; and helping to build the skills and knowledge of local HR teams regarding total rewards programs.
- Gathers feedback and input from local HR and/or business leaders relating to global rewards tools, processes, and programs, and works with the Global Leads to address any concerns, provide insights on legislative requirements / limitations, adapt tools, processes and/or programs as appropriate.
Global and Executive Compensation
Provides support and analysis for the global and executive compensation programs:
- Assists with preparation of analysis, reports and materials, and provides ongoing support and administration on Executive
- Compensation matters including HRCC materials, annual proxy circular, etc.
- Supports the annual compensation review for VPs and assists with the preparation of materials for the annual VP compensation meetings
- Assists and supports global compensation matters including job evaluations, compensation reviews, market analysis and benchmarking, and the year-end compensation review.
- Participates in, submits and tracks compensation surveys.
- May support the administration of the compensation survey submission and analysis system.
Global Total Rewards and Talent Management
As part of the global Total Rewards and Talent Management team, may provide support on the following:
- Analysis, administration, projects, role profiles, job codes update, data reviews, training/communication materials, calibration, system testing, and reporting.
- Global and executive pension and benefit plans, including projects, program reviews, market analysis, design and establishment of new programs, etc.
- Equity plan administration.
- Performance management, talent management, and succession planning.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources Management or another related area of expertise
CCP or CHRP certification preferred - 3 to 5 years in compensation, including but not limited to: program design, plan modelling, building/reviewing salary ranges, analyzing data to understand cost impact to business and develop recommendations, etc.
- Previous experience working with HRIS systems (such as SuccessFactors, etc.) a plus
- Previous experience with equity plans and/or executive compensation a plus
- Previous experience in the mining industry a plus
- Experience partnering with HR / business management on compensation matters
