The Manh Choh Project is a greenfield gold deposit in eastern Alaska being developed with ore being hauled to Kinross’ Fort Knox mine north of Fairbanks for processing. The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.
Job Summary
The Site Services Technician is responsible for providing multi-disciplinary operational support across the mine site, including facility maintenance, water management systems, fuel infrastructure, communications systems, and general site services. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical site infrastructure and supports daily operational readiness. The position requires the ability to work independently across multiple disciplines including mechanical systems, pumping systems, light electrical, communications equipment, and facility upkeep.
Essential Functions
- Perform inspection, preventative maintenance, and minor repair of fuel island infrastructure.
- Perform inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the highway wheel wash station.
- Monitor water basin levels and operate pumps as required to maintain proper water management.
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on fuel-powered generators and pumping systems.
- Operate and monitor water wells and piezometer network systems.
- Assist with seasonal startup, winterization, and preparation of water management systems.
- Assist in the operation and routine maintenance of the water treatment plant.
- Purge and maintain gravity-fed water lines and contractor water storage systems as required.
- Perform general building inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on site facilities.
- Perform snow removal and grounds maintenance around mine site facilities.
- Deliver water to site facilities and support site service needs as required.
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials and deliveries.
- Perform fuel delivery support for radar systems and assist in relocating radar equipment for operational needs.
- Install, inspect, and maintain radios and field communications equipment.
- Assist with maintenance of communications towers and related infrastructure.
- Support Security with maintenance of surveillance and access control systems.
- Support IT with hardware maintenance activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and inventory.
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
- Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
- Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous mining or industrial site experience preferred.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of water pumping systems preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs on generators and pumping equipment required.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, and building maintenance skills preferred.
- Familiarity with radio communications or industrial technology systems preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment required.
- Ability to keep accurate work records.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
