The Manh Choh Project is a greenfield gold deposit in eastern Alaska being developed with ore being hauled to Kinross’ Fort Knox mine north of Fairbanks for processing. The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.
Job Summary
The Operations Analyst (Junior) is responsible for supporting business operations at the Manh Choh site and assist with data collection, entry, and reconciliation in support of ongoing analysis and management of Ore Transport, Mining, Camp, and other associated business partner activities. Assist in the development and tracking of operational metrics and processes material requests for the Manh Choh operations team.
The primary functions of the Operations Analyst (Junior) are to receive and record daily/weekly/monthly reports required of Peak Gold business partners, assist the Contracts Analyst in reconciliation activities as needed to verify monthly activity invoices, time and material change orders, incentive payments, and provide on-site support for Manh Choh leadership team members.
This position is based in Tok, Alaska at the Manh Choh Administration offices. The base schedule is Monday through Thursday, with the occasional Friday required. Holidays, shift work, and weekends may be required.
Essential Functions
- Monitor contractors’ performance by receiving and recording required daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Identify reporting deficiencies and coordinate with business partners to rectify discrepancies
- Prepare monthly key performance indicator reports to assist contracts analyst with invoice reconciliation
- Compile performance data for presentation to key stakeholders
- Collect and maintain fuel supplier delivery records; assist in reconciliation against monthly invoices
- Assist in maintaining companies’ fuel management system (FMS) database
- Support Contracts Analyst and Superintendents in acquiring and interpreting information concerning contractor performance and reconciliation.
- Maintain and build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders as needed.
- Support external affairs and human resources with outreach to employees, public entities and community members as needed.
- Facilitate bridging communication between on-site and off-site management team members to ensure open flow of information
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Three years previous related work experience preferred.
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience in business, engineering, mathematics, computer science, supply chain, or logistics is preferred.
- Experience in business optimization, continuous improvement, and industrial or construction contracts preferred.
- Possess strong verbal, technical writing, analytical, problem solving and persuasive skills.
- Requires high level of energy and self-motivation with good organizational and time management skills for individual and team environments.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are required. Experience with JD Edwards’s and SQL databases software is preferred. Further development while on job will be supported and expected.
- Willingness to continuously develop skills, while being able to ask for help after reasonable exhaustion of self-learning resources (search engines, Kinross University, standard operating procedures).
- Must be adaptable to changing priorities and comfortable communicating changes.
- Working knowledge of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures preferred.
- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
