The Manh Choh Project is a greenfield gold deposit in eastern Alaska being developed with ore being hauled to Kinross’ Fort Knox mine north of Fairbanks for processing. The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in carrying out a full range of engineering functions associated with mine operations, including but not limited to production data input, haulage profile analysis, cycle time calculations, volume calculations and road and dump design.  Will also provide assistance as needed to the surveying and dewatering.

Essential Functions

  • Data input (production, dewatering, exploration, etc.).
  • Conduct haulage profile analysis using AutoCAD, MineSight and actual survey as-built.
  • Provide short-term mine plans, design drill packets, and produce timing packets for blast patterns
  • Tabulate volumes of pit features, dumps and stockpiles using survey information.
  • Update the mine site topography maps using monthly surveys of pit, roads, stockpiles and waste dump advancement.
  • Generate road and dump designs using MineSight or AutoCAD.
  • Train in the use of survey equipment and procedures.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state
  • Identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them in conjunction with working safely in all areas at all times.
  • Able to work without significant risk of harm to self and others.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Must be a current student at an accredited university or college.
  • Successfully completed sophomore year in mining or geologic engineering.
  • Currently enrolled or successfully completed courses in surveying and AutoCad plus basic courses.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills in addition to the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions is required.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
