Job Summary

The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all ore control activities.
  • Assist in the screening and hiring of staff and field personnel for the Technical Services department.
  • Responsible for operations personnel training to guide mining and minimize dilution.
  • Development of site ore and waste characterization and pit mapping.
  • Development and preparation of monthly reconciliation and reporting.
  • Support the team in slope stability monitoring and hazard identification.
  • Supervise the Geology Team.
  • Responsible for monthly royalty calculation.
  • Ensure that geological information is kept updated in a timely and efficient manner and adjust models accordingly.
  • Responsible for accurate reserve and resource reporting.
  • Responsible for creation and project management RC grade control program for ore control and resource model updates.
  • Responsible for creation of and maintenance of short range scheduling block model.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations, recommending promotions, and carrying out corrective actions as needed.
  • Investigate, analyze and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries and equipment damage, and recommend prevention strategies as necessary.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  • Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct them.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  • Perform other duties as required such as survey/geotechnical monitoring.

Education and Experience

Education
• University degree (Bachelor in Geology or related field is required), a master’s degree is preferred

Experience

  • Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • Must have a strong commitment to safety in the work environment.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience as a mine or exploration geologist is required.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience with drilling programs is preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of the efficient use of geologic instruments, techniques, and interpretation of data.
  • Good working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs. MineSight, Leapfrog, Deswick and Vulcan skills are preferred, as well as various database programs (e.g. Acquire).
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in physical demands sheets.
  • Must stand as the mine QP for Resource.
  • Must be available for shift work, holidays, and weekends.
