Job Description
Reporting to the FP&A Controller, this senior position will play a critical role in driving financial and operational performance at the Kinross’ Mauritanian operations through strategic financial planning, advanced analysis, and business partnership.
Job Responsibilities
•Strategic Financial Leadership: Act as a key business partner to site leadership, providing strategic financial
insights to influence decision-making and drive profitability, efficiency, and cost optimization.
•Performance Management & Business Insights:Synthesize financial and operational data into meaningful
insights, identifying key drivers of performance, trends, and risks to proactively support leadership in decision-making.
•Financial Forecasting & Budgeting: Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget and quarterly
forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and operational realities.
•Variance Analysis & Cost Control:on a weekly basis, perform in-depth variance analysis on costs and
operational performance, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
•KPI Development & Site Performance Plan: Propose detailed elements and key performance indicators
(KPIs) for the Site-Level Performance Plan (4 Point Plan), ensuring alignment with operational and financial goals.
•Financial Modeling & Scenario Analysis: Develop robust financial models to assess business scenarios,
operational changes, and cost-saving initiatives, supporting data-driven decision-making.
•Long-Term Planning & Strategic Analysis: Contribute to the Life of Mine business plan (Strategic Business
Plan), providing scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to support long-term strategic decision-making.
•Process Optimization & Automation: Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and planning
processes by implementing automation tools, improving data accuracy, and enhancing reporting efficiency.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate cross-functionally with operational, technical, and corporate teams to
ensure financial transparency and alignment with business objectives.
•Mentorship & Leadership: Coach and mentor junior FP&A staff, fostering a high-performance finance team
and ensuring knowledge transfer of best practices.
•Executive Reporting: Prepare and present high-level financial reports and dashboards to senior management,
ensuring key stakeholders have timely and relevant insights.
•Ad Hoc Analysis & Special Projects: Lead complex financial analyses and support senior management on
high-impact projects, including operational efficiency initiatives and business transformation strategies.
Education and Experience
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from reputed university in finance, corporate finance, business administration, accounting,
economics or other closely related courses.
• Professional finance qualification advantageous.
Functional job skills
• 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, and business
performance analysis, preferably in the mining, natural resources, or industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and reporting processes with previous experience in extractive
industries.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to extract, process and analyse large amounts of data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and an aptitude for analysis to be able to extract the business insights from the
numbers.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
• Ability to learn quickly and act on new information.
