Purpose of the Role

The Exploration Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient execution of drilling and logistical activities within the exploration projects. Reporting directly to the Exploration Operations Manager, this position involves supervising drilling operations, coordinating logistical support, contributing to the success of our exploration campaigns, managing the drilling Quality Assurance and Quality Controls programs, and overseeing the training and development of personnel.
 

Key Areas of Responsibility and Duties

Includes but not limited to:
•    Drilling Supervision: Oversee all drilling operations, including the setup, maintenance, and execution of drilling programs, ensuring they are carried out safely and efficiently.
•    Logistics Coordination: Plan and manage the logistical aspects of exploration projects, including equipment and personnel transportation, logistics management, and site support services.
•    Team Leadership: Lead and supervise drilling and logistics teams, ensuring they are adequately trained, motivated, and compliant with safety protocols and company standards.
•    Equipment Maintenance: Manage the maintenance and repair of drilling equipment and logistics vehicles to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.
•    Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols, conducting regular safety meetings, risk assessments, and ensuring all activities align with HSE guidelines.
•    Budget Oversight: Monitor and control project budgets related to drilling and logistics, optimizing costs while maintaining operational efficiency.
•    Performance Management: Oversee drilling contractors, monitor and liaise with them on set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and hold them accountable for performance.
•    Data Review and Assessment: Review and assess all data from the field, ensuring accuracy prior to entry into database and providing insights to support decision-making.
•    Resource Management: Manage human and operational resources effectively, allocating tasks and responsibilities as needed.
•    Process Improvement: Continuously look for opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce costs within drilling and logistical operations.
•    Cross-Departmental Coordination: Ensure the coordination of logistics with all concerned departments and services to maintain seamless project operations.
•    HSE Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices throughout all drilling and logistical activities.
•    Quality Assurance and Quality Controls: Manage the drilling Quality Assurance and Quality Controls programs to ensure that drilling operations meet the highest quality standards.
•    Training and Development: Oversee the training and development of personnel involved in drilling and logistics, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
•    Planning and Budgeting: Assist with the planning and budgeting of drilling and logistical activities, providing input to optimize resource allocation and project planning.

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Mandatory skills and requirements for this position:
•    
Technical Certification in Logistics, Exploration Operations or a related field (preferred).
•    At least 8 years’ experience in drilling operations and logistics supervision within the mining or exploration industry.
•    Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
•    Database management skills, understanding of QA/QC protocols and procedures that meet industry standards.
•    Excellent leadership and team management skills.
•    Well-developed technical report writing and presentation skills. 
•    Budget management experience.
•    Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English and French.
•    Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for project management and reporting.

Desirable Skill, Knowledge, Training, and Experience:
•  
 Certification relevant to the mining or exploration industry or a formal professional or technical designation in appropriate area of expertise.
•    A thorough understanding of administration and logistic tasks related to drilling.
•    Practical knowledge of ACQUIRE database software, as well as various other software including MICROMINE, LEAPFROG, ARCGIS, MAPINFO.
