Job Description

The MEM Superintendent, reporting to the MEM Manager, will lead the group responsible for executing maintenance work on productive and auxiliary mining fleets, ensuring safe and reliable equipment is available.  This includes direct reports of more than 100 trades, supervisors, and business partner specialists (onsite dealer support), and key relationships with planning, reliability and Mining operations.  The incumbent will have a track record of applying physical asset management concepts in addition to being able to provide strong technical and managerial leadership over a developing team.  

Job Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to:
Technical & Organizational Leadership:
•    Ensure appropriate staffing, skills, and organizational structure.
•    Set, monitor, and manage performance targets for maintenance teams.
•    Organize teams for effective collaboration and skill transfer.
•    Participate in training, development, and succession planning.
•    Actively engage in employee coaching and performance reviews.
•    Promote and implement safety management systems.
•    Lead and support workshop improvement projects.
Maintenance Strategy Implementation:
•    Develop and execute long-term maintenance plans effectively.
•    Collaborate with Planning and Reliability teams to refine strategies.
•    Drive a reliability-focused culture and cost-effective maintenance approaches.
•    Ensure data integrity and adherence to work management practices.
•    Oversee compliance with OEM standards and optimize repair methods.
•    Manage relationships with OEM partners, contracts, and procurement.
•    Provide expert input on equipment purchases and performance improvements.
Driving Departmental and Mine Development:
•    Enhance Equipment Performance: Advise on and implement technologies to improve efficiency to optimize work standards in MEM and Mine Operations. 
•    Budget & Strategy Involvement: contribute to operating/capital budget planning and strategic decision-making.
•    Optimize Fleet Performance: Collaborate with reliability engineers to analyze and improve fleet operations. 
 

Education and Experience

Mandatory Requirements for this position:
•    Tertiary qualification (engineering degree) in a relevant discipline such as mobile maintenance or mechanical engineering with a focus in mobile maintenance with at least eight (8) years of experience in a supervisory role. 
•    Electrical or Mechanical trade certificate equivalent with extensive experience in Heavy Equipment Maintenance Experience
•    8 years of mining/dealer experience, with progressive leadership experience in operational / workshop roles
•    Excellent understanding of heavy mining equipment, particularly CAT equipment
•    Understanding of mining and maintenance operations and the asset management principles that underpin them
•    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
•    Excellent analytical and computer skills.  Able to effectively adapt to a new CMMS.
•    Ability to lead, maintain accountability and resolve conflict all while maintaining a positive working environment
•    Fluent English a must, French and or Arabic an advantage
•    Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
•    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
•    May work holidays, shift work, and weekends.

Desirable Skill, Knowledge, Training, and Experience:
•    Previous experience in maintaining mining highway haul trucks (CAT 793, Komatsu 785)
•    Previous experience in maintaining mining loading equipment (CAT 6060FS, RH340. PC1250, CAT 994H loaders)
•    Previous experience in maintaining mining drill rigs (Sandvic DR580, Bucyrus, Pit Vipers PV235)
•    Previous experience in maintaining Liebherr hydraulic cranes, Terex Frana cranes, Genie lifts and Manitou
•    Project management certification
•    First aid certification
•    Driver license is essential.
