Job Description
The MEM Junior QA/QC inspector reports to the MEM Senior Reliability Engineer within the MEM department and is responsible for assisting in the application of best practices during maintenance activities. This role involves working closely with the shop supervisor to inspect equipment, generate backlog, ensure jobs are completed to an acceptable standard, and verify that machines are safe and reliable.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct inspections of equipment according to established schedules, standards, and checklists.
• Assist the shift supervisor in ensuring corrective and planned maintenance jobs are completed in accordance with SOP and OEM standards.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and generate backlog jobs in JDE.
• Assist with daily time cards, JDE time entry for work orders, and report processing.
• Ensure work orders contain all necessary information before closing, including classification codes, estimated hours, and downtime hours.
• Work with planners to suggest updates to Bill of Materials and Associated Part Lists based on field experience. Help update standard and backlog job times.
• Support the implementation of continuous improvement processes in line with reliability engineering guidelines.
• Collaborate on new initiatives and projects related to maintenance improvement and assist in developing related procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to mechanics.
• Assist the planner in determining technical specifications of equipment.
• Participate in applying reliability methodologies to support continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (e.g., RCM, RCA, FMECA, Criticality analysis).
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
• Meet or exceed expected performance standards set by MEM management.

Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Mandatory Requirements for this position:
• Mechanical engineering degree/equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or in a related role.
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment needed for the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of mining mobile equipment.
• Familiarity with CAT SIS, CAT Inspect, JDE, Windows, and MS Office.
• High commitment to safety in the workplace.
• Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and be self-motivated with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skill, Knowledge, Training, and Experience:
• Previous experience in maintaining mining loading and hauling equipment (e.g., CAT 6060FS, RH340, PC1250, CAT 994H loaders, CAT 793, CAT D10, CAT 16M, Komatsu 785).
• Ability to anticipate consequences and risks with a medium and long-term vision.
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Driver's License: Essential for the role.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while being self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
