Tasiast Mine
The Tasiast mine is an open-pit operation in northwestern Mauritania located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored. The mine is proceeding with an expansion that is expected to increase production and lower operating costs. Tasiast is a cornerstone asset in Kinross’ portfolio, with a long mine life a large mineral reserve base.
As one of the largest private employers in Mauritania, Tasiast invests heavily in training and career development opportunities and has many important programs in place to support its host communities. For example, since 2014, Tasiast’s mobile clinic, which provides free medical support to isolated communities, has provided over 32,000 consultations.
Purpose of Role
Under the responsibility of IT/OT Superintendent, the Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure solutions to support various IT projects within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, project management, and network troubleshooting.
This is a site-based role with rotation 12 days at site followed by 9 days of rest.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and design network solutions that meet business needs.
- Develop and Implement projects that support IT/OT infrastructure.
- Configure, install, and deploy network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points in a Cisco environment.
- Implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
- Perform network capacity planning and optimization to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Conduct network performance monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers; lead technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network engineering.
- Manage change initiatives related to network transformation and modernization.
- Conduct risk assessment, mitigation, and reporting for network infrastructure.
- Implement innovative solutions to improve network reliability and efficiency.
Education and Experience
- BAC +5 or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise Certificate Holder
- 6 years of experience managing the IT networks of a large company
- Advanced expertise in network protocols: STP, OSPF, HSRP, IP SLA, Radius, and DNS
- Good knowledge of Cisco Wireless and Datacenter technologies
- Mastery of the configuration of Cisco equipment and other brands (routers, switches, firewalls, IPS, WAAS, steelhead and packetshaper)
- Knowledge of network monitoring
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving under pressure
- Organized, dynamic, creative and with a good capacity for assimilation and rigor.

- Excellent knowledge of adequate security measures related to the work
- Fluency in English and French
