Job Description

The MEM Supervisor, reporting to the MEM Senior Supervisor, will lead the group responsible for executing maintenance work on production and auxiliary mining fleets, ensuring safe and reliable equipment is available. This includes direct reports of more than 40 trades, and business partner specialists (onsite dealer support), and key relationships with planning, reliability and mine operations. The incumbent will have a track record of applying physical asset management concepts in addition to being able to provide strong technical and managerial leadership over a developing team.  

 

Job Responsibilities

Provide Technical and Organizational Leadership
•    Work with safety at the top of the list, look for better tools, reduce risk exposure and proper develop risk assessment during maintenance activities, coach and mentor
•    Ensure staffing and resourcing levels are appropriate to meet the workloads and requirements of the section. This includes the appropriate mix of skill, trades, experience, mixed with organization design
•    Set performance targets and measure, monitor, and manage overall performance of the maintenance function and direct reports. Ensures targets are relevant to team members and communicated regularly
•    Ensure equipment performance targets are consistently met by having a well-organized team, clear on their roles and responsibilities
•    Organize work such that business partner employees and team members function effectively together such that skills are complemented and transferred.
•    Actively participate in the development of employees by making expectations clear, coaching and regularly conducting performance reviews with team members
•    Lead and engage the team in projects to improve work shop as / when required.  Maintains a high standard for workshop conditions
•    Together with the Planning and Reliability Supervisors and Engineers, participate in and provide technical input on the regular review of maintenance strategies
•    Is a positive contributor to the reliability culture, by actively engaging in the development and implementation of reliability initiatives
•    Provides input and options for short and long tern projects, plans and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of maintenance work
•    Ensures work is carried out in accordance with OEM standards and specifications
•    Has industry knowledge of best practices and challenges OEM to improve equipment performance and service quality

 

Education , Experience and Skills

Mandatory Requirements for this position

  • Engineer degree in engineering /Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (mobile maintenance, mechanical engineering)
  • 5 years experience in a supervisory role with extensive experience in Maintenance
  • Fluent English an advantage, French and or Arabic a must
  • Ability to lead, maintain accountability and resolve conflict all while maintaining a positive working environment
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade certificate equivalent with extensive experience in Heavy Equipment Maintenance
  • Excellent understanding of heavy mining equipment, particularly CAT equipment
  • Understanding of mining and maintenance operations and the asset management principles that underpin them
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills. Able to effectively adapt to a new CMMS
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
