Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance General Supervisor, the incumbent leads a team of mechanics to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment, while consistently aligning daily operations with Kinross’ values. A minimum of five years of heavy equipment experience in a mining or construction environment is required, including a combination of field and office work. At least three years of direct supervisory experience or equivalent supervisory training is required. Underground supervisory experience is considered an asset.

Essential Functions

1.  Assign crews to specific tasks to meet daily mine maintenance goals and align with the Kinross Way for Maintenance. 
2.  Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments. 
3.  Develop crew skills to levels of maximum efficiency and safety. 
4.  Works with Maintenance Personnel to ensure that all parts, special tools, and equipment necessary to complete a planned task are available and accounted for before the job commences.
5.  Perform daily administrative duties such as time entry, reports, supply requisitions, provide effective safety meetings, and manage daily workload.
6.  Maintain accurate and up to date records of work performed. Keeping daily schedules of both reactive and proactive work performed.
7.  Develop maintenance assignments.
8.  Ensure optimum use of facilities and equipment.
9.  Keeps in active communication with the Maintenance General Supervisor and periodically updates him/her on the status of work being performed.
10.  Be a liaison with operations to plan, monitor, and execute maintenance, capital, and construction projects. Identify duration of maintenance or repair activity on equipment or facilities. 
11.  Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. 
12.  Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
13.  Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
14.  Works without risk or harm to self and others. 
15.  Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by state agency is required.
16.  Punctuality and regular attendance required.
17.  Perform other related functions as assigned by Maintenance General Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.  It is important that the incumbent foster team spirit among crew members, motivating them to meet production goals while prioritizing safety.
2.  A minimum of 5 years heavy equipment experience in a mining or construction environment with a combination of field and office work required. 
3.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the CFRs relating to underground mining equipment and practices.
4.  Must show strong emphasis on Planned/Scheduled work practices.
5.  Supervises employees within Kinross/RMGC policies and procedures.
6.  Must be able to adapt to constant shift changes.
7.  General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
8.  General knowledge of equipment, I.E. Jumbos, Bolters, Underground Trucks, Loaders, etc…
9.  Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, dispatch, word, outlook explorer, and JD Edwards.
10   Must have strong training, verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills.
11.  The ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors and/or contractors.
12.  Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team. 
13.  Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
14.  Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets. 
15.  Underground mine rescue team experience preferred.
16.  Experience working with vendors specializing in underground equipment parts and component sales preferred.
