Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Project Director, the Mine Manager will oversee the Round Mountain Phase X underground mine operations and ensure alignment with the organization’s overall strategy. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on optimizing performance and achieving operational goals.
Essential Functions
• Direct and manage day‑to‑day underground mining operations, ensuring safe and efficient achievement of production targets.
• Oversee ore extraction, drilling, blasting, ground control, ventilation, and equipment utilization to maximize productivity while minimizing costs and downtime.
• Develop and implement mining plans, schedules, and strategies that align with operational and strategic site goals.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, promoting a proactive safety culture.
• Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies and mining methods to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
• Collaborate with senior management, engineering, geology, and cross‑functional teams to optimize UG mine operations and support long‑term planning.
• Provide clear, timely communication to senior and corporate management regarding performance, risks, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and present operational reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team environment, encouraging open communication, transparency, and shared accountability.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and support employee development.
• Ensure consistent implementation of processes, systems, and standards that drive operational efficiency and competitive advantage.

Qualifications and Skills
1. University degree in chemical engineering, mining/geological engineering or similar technical degree required.
2. 12+ years of experience in an underground mining operation.
3. 5+ years’ experience leading teams within the mining industry preferred.
4. Extensive knowledge of underground mining in a project development and production environment.
5. Knowledge and experience in developing policies and procedures relating to safety, the operation, and individual and organizational development.
6. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
7. Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills
8. Proven success and demonstrated history of leading a strong culture of safety.
9. The ability to establish, communicate and measure results regarding safety, productivity, continuous improvement, and business strategy.
10. Demonstrated ability to build and develop a dedicated team and positive working relationships with a diverse workforce.
11. Excellent people skills (coaching & mentoring) directed towards developing and empowering teams and individuals.
12. Ability to prepare and present reports to all levels of the organization in an accurate and fit-for-purpose format.

15. Strong understanding of MSHA and environmental requirements for an underground mine site.
16. Proven experience in managing operations and leading teams in a complex, dynamic environment.
17. Ability to manage budgets, track expenditures, and optimize financial performance.
