Temporary Custodian

Job Description

This Janitor position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment across mine site facilities, including offices, locker rooms, warehouses, dry areas, lunchrooms, restrooms, and designated operational spaces. This role supports site hygiene standards and contributes to overall workforce safety and wellbeing. This role reports to the Human Resources Senior Business Partner. This is a temporary position lasting approximately 4-6 months. 

Essential Functions

•    Performs daily cleaning of offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and control rooms. 
•    Maintains restrooms and shower, locker/dry areas, including stocking supplies and sanitation. 
•    Cleans lunchrooms, break areas, and common spaces (tables, floors, microwaves, refrigerators, trash removal). 
•    Cleaning of the mine site clinic and company housing. 
•    Conducts floor care, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning. 
•    Empties and replace trash and recycling receptacles throughout the site. 
•    Restock consumables (toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, PPE dispensers as assigned). 
•    Perform deep cleaning on a scheduled basis—walls, fixtures, high touch surfaces. 
•    Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies 
•    Safely handle chemicals and cleaning agents in accordance with MSDS and site policies. 
•    Uphold strict housekeeping standards to support site safety, including hazard identification and reporting. 
•    Operate cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers where applicable). 
•    Assist with special cleaning projects or emergency cleanup responses. 
•    Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety protocols, and mine site regulations.
•    Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

•    Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred.
•    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. 
•    Familiarity with MSDS, chemical handling, and safe equipment operation preferred.
•    Ability to work in a mining or industrial environment with exposure to dust, noise, and weather conditions. 
•    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks. 
•    Ability to work independently and follow schedules.
•    Punctuality and regular attendance required.
•    Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
