Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Summary
Interns will be responsible for carrying out a full range of challenging and rewarding projects in their field. You will work alongside industry professionals to improve processes, grow, and make a difference. This internship will be based out of one of our two Nevada sites, Bald Mountain (Elko) or Round Mountain, NV.
Essential Functions
- Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them in conjunction with working safely in all areas at all times.
- Able to work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Must complete a minimum of ten (10) weeks between May 12th and September 5th, 2025.
- Must be a current student at an accredited university or college.
- Must be enrolled in school for the Fall 2025 semester or about to graduate (proof of enrollment or completion required).
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts required).
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills in addition to the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions is required.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
