Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Summary

Ensure supervision excellence for the Projects Department while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.  This position is a full-time position to supervise ongoing projects both capital and non-capital assigned by the Projects Superintendent projects for Kinross Nevada, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. 

Essential Functions

1.  Support Projects and Operational groups at Round Mountain as assigned.
2.  Act as liaison between stakeholders and business partners on-site to meet engineering specs. and supervision requirements set by RMGC.
3.  Write and review SOW’s when required for each project.  
4.  Review bids and evaluate with the stakeholders which proposal to recommended to Supply Chain.
5.  Write PTW (Permit to Work) for departments and business partners when needed. 
6.  Understand and continuously monitor schedules and priorities set by the Projects team and business partners assigned to each project to stay on schedule and costs. 
7.  Oversee business partner activities in the field to ensure efficient, safe operations and make recommendations for revised procedures when problems are encountered.
8.  Schedule and lead weekly meetings for each project between Projects, all affected Departments and Business partners to discuss updates and schedule.
9.  Communicate in a timely manner when schedule affects other Departments when work area is affected and/or shutdowns are required.
10.  Review invoices to ensure accuracy and notify if any discrepancies are found.
11.  Ensure consistency in the application of company policies.
12.  Perform other related functions as assigned by Superintendent.
13.  Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
14.  Maintaining a high level of confidentiality in the workplace and off work is crucial for protecting sensitive information, ensuring trust, and adhering to legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.  Must be a self-starter.
2.  Must be willing to devote the time required to complete capital projects and be on call during off time if needed.
3.  Knowledge of pump and piping systems, structural design, conveyor systems, electrical and instrumentation and control is preferred.
4.  Knowledge of project structure and supervision is preferred.
5.  The ability to effectively manage the development of all projects assigned.
6.  A minimum of five years’ experience working in the mining or construction industry.
7.  Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
8.  Must be able to balance resource allocations with changing priorities as required.
9.  Knowledge in the JDE and Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
10.  Must be a salaried person and have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience required.
11.  Requires valid driver’s license.
