Job Description

Under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor, the incumbent will provide short-term scheduling services to the assigned maintenance areas. Ensures the work is properly scheduled with trade requirements, stores material, collaborates with supply chain to purchase material and specialty service(s) identified on the work order, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.  

Job Responsibilities

1.    Align with the long-term maintenance plan while prioritizing day-to-day production impacts.
2.    Participate in the application of Reliability Methodologies for supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (RCM, RCA, FMECA, etc.) 
3.    Produces standard jobs, preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance tasks and schedules for equipment.
4.    Provide support to the maintenance planning function through materials handling. This includes ordering, staging, and returning parts for planned/scheduled jobs.
5.    Ensure parts and material orders are placed in a timely manner and follow up on orders to ensure that parts are available for scheduled start dates. If parts are not available, work with purchasing to expedite orders.
6.    Assist in ongoing creation of Bill of Material (BOM’s) and Associated Parts Lists (APL’s) for standard jobs.
7.    Recommend substitute parts or other sources of parts as applicable if normal parts and materials are not available.
8.    Provide recommendations for warehousing on sufficient inventory quantities while keeping inventory holding costs at a minimum.
9.    Work with the Warehouse to coordinate the staging of material for planned jobs.
10.    Manage components in conjunction with Warehouse and Purchasing to ensure cores are returned to the manufacturer in a timely manner and rebuilds are to agreed specifications.
11.    Ensure that all parts and materials are ordered in a timely manner.
12.    Manage work orders, documenting maintenance activities, and ensuring accurate record-keeping within a CMMS (Oracle J.D. Edwards)
13.    Monitor year to date cost performance/analyze forecasted budget against actual and communicate expected variances.
14.    Coordinating labor, parts, and materials needed for maintenance tasks, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and verifying spare parts inventories. 
15.    Collaborate and communicate effectively with all departments to achieve schedules as planned.
16.    Monitoring the effectiveness of maintenance schedules, identifying areas for improvement, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs). 
17.    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. 
18.    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct. 
19.    Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
20.    Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
21.    Works without risk or harm to self and others. 
22.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by state agency, or must be able to pass driver competency course and exam.
23.    Punctuality and regular attendance required.
24.    Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

1.    3-5 years previous experience with mining or similar industry experience with process maintenance equipment (pumps, conveyors, mills, agitators, slurry pipelines, screening classification, etc) preferred.
2.    A minimum of 6 months experience as a parts coordinator, scheduler or planner preferred.
3.    Mechanical understanding of equipment to support effective scheduling is preferred.
4.    Computer literate and have a good understanding of the process and equipment involved required including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. 
5.    Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management required.
6.    Ability to work independently and as a member of the overall team. 
7.    Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
8.    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets. 

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Maintenance Planning Supervisor.
