Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

Under direction of the Mine Supervisor, the Dispatcher will work effectively with the Mine and Maintenance groups to ensure that the goals of the company are fully achieved. The Dispatcher will be responsible for developing production assignments, monitoring production of mine crew, and completing necessary reporting while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. 

This position is based out of Round Montain, NV and the scheduel is 7 on, 7 off - rotating days and nights. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Sets up Dispatch according to Shift Supervision on assignment of crew and equipment to specific tasks to safely achieve mine production goals.
•    Monitors equipment activity during shift to ensure safe and efficient production, reports operational deviation to Shift Supervision.
•    Manages dispatch system to insure optimal use of available resources.
•    Maintains data and reporting accurately.
•    Follow the Maintenance Point of Contact Procedures.
•    Coordinate with Mine Operations Personnel on repairs and maintenance to be completed.
•    Understands mining processes and communicates interdepartmentally as required.
•    Well-versed on equipment and equipment operation.
•    Manages the phone, radio, and computer screen in dispatch.
•    Understands code blue procedures and responsibilities.
•    Manages lime, fuel, and other deliveries.
•    Monitors high wall stability and dewatering wells.
•    Develops an understanding of the dispatch system and is capable of operating the system.
•    Must be able to help troubleshoot equipment problems and guide operators over the radio.
•    Must be able to handle basic optimization and upset management.
•    Know when to request assistance and who to call when required.
•    Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
•    Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
•    Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
•    Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.

•    Punctuality and regular attendance required.
•    Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

•    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Should have previous mine operations experience with general overall mining knowledge, and a Team understanding of crushing, leaching,  milling, and maintenance operations.
•    Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
•    Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
•    Ability to work independently.
•    Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
•    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
•    Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
•    Requires valid driver’s license.

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Senior Mine Supervisor
