Job Description
Responsible for executing and optimizing lubrication and basic condition monitoring activities to ensure equipment reliability and prevent premature component failure. This role supports the site reliability strategy through proper lubrication practices, inspections, and early defect identification.
Job Responsibilities
• Execute lubrication routes including oil changes, greasing, and inspections for motors, pumps, bearings, and gearboxes.
• Perform oil sampling following best practices and ensure sample integrity.
• Inspect equipment and identify early signs of failure including contamination, leaks, overheating, abnormal noise, and improper lubrication.
• Ensure proper lubricant selection, storage, handling, and contamination control practices.
• Identify and report issues from magnetic plugs, filters, and lubrication systems.
• Utilize CMMS such as JD Edwards to execute work orders, document findings, and initiate corrective actions.
• Support condition monitoring activities (vibration, temperature, visual inspections) in coordination with the reliability team.
• Provide feedback to improve lubrication routes, frequencies, and maintenance strategies.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs related to lubrication systems.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and support development of lubrication best practices.
• Operate support equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in lubrication storage and work areas.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
• Good understanding of mining, process plant systems, and maintenance operations, with the ability to apply knowledge in daily activities.
• Working knowledge of process plant operations (crushing, grinding, flotation, etc.), including their impact on equipment performance and maintenance requirements.
• Strong understanding of lubrication principles including grease application, oil properties, contamination control, and failure modes.
• Experience executing lubrication programs and route-based maintenance.
• Ability to identify lubrication-related failure risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Proficiency in using CMMS systems (e.g., JD Edwards) and mobile inspection tools.
• Basic knowledge of oil analysis and interpretation of results.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience on rotating equipment (pumps, motors, bearings).
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance or lubrication experience Required.
• Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Certification or training in lubrication or oil analysis (e.g., Noria, ICML or equivalent).
• Experience supporting condition-based maintenance programs.
• Experience mentoring or training junior personnel.
• Must be able to meet “Authorized User” requirements for High Risk Activities, including but not limited to Fall Protection and Confined Space, as required by job duties, departments and Round Mountain Gold Corporation’s Permit to Work policies.
