Job Description
Under the supervision of the Daycare Supervisor, Caregiver will be responsible for providing support to staff during their scheduled shift; educating and supervising children, and providing the children with appropriate activities while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect SVCCC values.
Job Responsibilities
- Plans and develops age-appropriate curriculum, organizes and participates in games, reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, handwork, songs, and similar activities. Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid overstimulation and fatigue.
- Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care.
- Helps children become responsible in caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.
- Disciplines children and recommends or initiates other measures to control behavior according to state and Smoky Valley Child Care guidelines.
- Serves meals and snacks to children and regulates rest periods.
- Help train new employees.
- Washes dishes and assist teachers in cleaning dining areas. Responsible for cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
- Writes, dates, and plans meals a month in advance, and keeps on file in the facility for at least 90 days after the corresponding meal is served. Posts current menu, including any changes, in the kitchen and in a public place within the facility convenient for parental inspection.
- Refrigerates or places in a cold, protected area the properly identified sack or bag lunches brought by children.
- Maintains temperatures in all refrigeration and heating units.
- Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.

Education and Experience
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that is subject to change based on business needs.
- Able to plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to children.
- Work independently and exercise good judgment when carrying out duties.
- Child Development classes preferred.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
- Must be 18 years old.
