Job Summary
The Reliability Technician is responsible for supporting equipment reliability, condition monitoring programs, and maintenance strategy execution. This position works closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Reliability Engineering teams to collect and analyze equipment data, identify potential failures, and improve asset performance. The role plays a key part in proactive maintenance, defect elimination, and continuous improvement initiatives across site operations.
Essential Functions
- Support execution and continuous improvement of the Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS).
- Assist in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and defect elimination efforts.
- Maintain and update equipment documentation, manuals, and asset records.
- Submit and support master data updates (create/change/delete) within CMMS.
- Identify and implement improvement opportunities from maintenance and reliability processes.
- Support spare parts optimization, including identifying critical spares and reducing excess inventory.
- Provide input into maintenance strategies and reliability improvements.
- Establish and maintain condition-based monitoring (CBM) programs, including:
- Vibration analysis
- Oil analysis
- Thermography
- Collect, analyze, and interpret equipment condition data.
- Maintain monitoring routes and databases.
- Initiate work notifications based on CBM findings.
- Support plant shutdown activities related to condition monitoring.
- Collaborate with trades and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance.
- Provide feedback to Reliability Engineers to enhance monitoring programs.
- Review and support Maintenance and Reliability KPI reporting.
- Assist with long-range and short-term planning activities.
- Provide data and insights to support maintenance decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to reliability activities.
- Promote and adhere to all site safety standards and procedures.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Warehouse teams.
- Support trades with equipment data, specifications, and performance insights.
- Assist with development and maintenance of job procedures and position descriptions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification or associate degree in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field preferred
- skills.
- 2–5 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or condition monitoring (mining or heavy industry preferred).
- Experience with vibration analysis, oil analysis, or other predictive maintenance techniques preferred.
- Experience working with CMMS systems (e.g., JDE, SAP, Maximo).
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to collect and analyze equipment performance data.
- Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Valid drivers license and authorized to work in the US.
