Job Summary

The Mine Supervisor is a fixed-term role supporting the Curlew Basin Exploration Project with a length of 9 months. The Mine Supervisor is responsible for acting as the Owner’s Representative for the oversight of the Contractor conducting underground development.   Supervision of the Owner’s workforce in support of the contract will also be a key responsibility, as well ensuring development targets are met, safety standards are upheld, and workers are properly supervised and supported. They will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the mine and act as a liaison between the contractors and the owner’s management.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure the Contractor is working to all applicable standards.
  2. Daily approval of the Contractor’s completed activities.
  3. Coordination of activities between Owner’s and Contractor’s crews.
  4. Organize and lead Owner’s crews to meet project plans, schedules and goals.
  5. Conduct ground inspections and provide guidance on applicable ground support standards
  6. Clearly communicate the daily objectives and priorities to Owner’s crews.
  7. Provides instructions and training in the proper use of equipment.
  8. Provides and coordinates available resources to set operating priorities to achieve daily goals.
  9. Provide supervisory overview of the development cycle and mine services installations as required by both Owner and Contractor.
  10. Monitor mining equipment and tools for proper functioning and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  11. Monitor, track and document Contractor delays
  12. Review and provide input on Contractor Change Order Requests
  13. Conduct mine inspections to ensure safety and quality standards are being met by employees and contractors.
  14. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, material movements, and any safety incidents or irregularities.
  15. Responsible to maintain adequate inventories of mine related supplies.
  16. Responsible for thinking ahead and scheduling daily activities for more than 7 days in advance.
  17. Collaborate with stakeholders and other departments. 
  18. Operate a company vehicle and other equipment as assigned. 
  19. Ensuring those on the shift are upholding to Kinross Kettle River policies and procedures. 
  20. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
     

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10 years of experience working in an underground mine.
  • 5 years of experience supervising a team. 
  • High School or equivalent. 
  • Thorough knowledge of all underground mining practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to operate mining equipment at the highest standards and production rates.
  • Ability to make decisions relative to production and maintenance. 
  • Understanding of mine health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Ability to supervise a team and work independently. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing basic Microsoft Suit programs.

Bi-Weekly Salary Range: $4,038.00 - $4,423.00
