Job Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Mine Manager will oversee the Kettle River mine operations and ensure alignment with the organization’s overall strategy. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on optimizing performance and achieving operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Direct and manage day-to-day underground mining operations, ensuring the safe achievement of production targets.
  • Oversee ore extraction, drilling, blasting, ground control, ventilation, and equipment use to maximize production while minimizing costs and downtime.
  • Develop and implement effective mining plans, schedules, and strategies to achieve operational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, promoting a safe work environment for all mine employees.
  • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and control of costs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess production performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and implement innovative mining technologies and methods to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Implement cost-saving measures while ensuring that operational targets are met.
  • Collaborate with senior site management, engineering, geology, and other departments to optimize mine operations and align with the sites strategic planning.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with senior and corporate management, providing regular updates on mine performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by encouraging open communication, transparency, and a shared commitment to achieving operational objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for direct reports, providing constructive feedback, recognition, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement among all team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree, or higher-level degree, in Mine Engineering or related field strongly preferred.
  2. 10+ years of experience in an underground mining operation.
  3. 5+ years of previous supervisory experience at a senior level or higher required.
  4. Extensive knowledge of underground mining in a project development and production environment.
  5. Strong understanding of MSHA and environmental requirements for an underground mine site.
  6. Proven experience in managing mining operations and leading teams in a complex, dynamic environment.
  7. Ability to manage budgets, track expenditures, and optimize financial performance.
  8. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  9. Ability to utilize different programs such as; Vulcan, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Deswik and Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range: $170,000 - $185,000
