Job Summary
The Mine Maintenance Planner develops, implements, and oversees the maintenance planning strategies and schedules for mine equipment and assets, supporting both preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and ensuring alignment with production goals and company policies.
Essential Functions
- Plan and schedule all routine, corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities for mobile and fixed mine equipment, ensuring optimal asset availability and reliability.
- Identify, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance tasks according to equipment condition, criticality, and production needs.
- Track and manage work orders, asset documentation, spare parts, and inventory alignment using production software.
- Collaborate with operations, production, supply chain, and contractors to schedule shutdowns, obtain materials, and align maintenance with overall operational plans.
- Assist in developing and updating annual maintenance budgets, reporting on cost control, equipment usage, and work completion metrics.
- Prepare and deliver work packs, technical reports, and completion documentation to supervisors for efficient and quality maintenance execution.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintenance history, analyzing trends to continually improve maintenance planning and asset reliability.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies in all maintenance planning and execution activities.
- Train maintenance employees in production software and planning/scheduling processes as needed.
- Perform any other duties assigned to improve maintenance practices and outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma required; mechanical/electrical trade or bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in maintenance planning or related fields within the mining industry.
- Advanced proficiency with maintenance management system software, scheduling, and data analysis tools.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of mining equipment, asset management, and maintenance strategies.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance data, and engineering drawings.
- Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in teams.

Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000 / year
