Job Summary

The Mill Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the mill processing plant, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, production efficiency, and continuous improvement. The role coordinates personnel, resources, and processes to meet operational targets and uphold company policies.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, direct, and mentor mill operators, ensuring operational & safety standards are consistently met.​
  • Enforce compliance with safety regulations, health and environmental policies, and company procedures.​
  • Plan, schedule, and manage daily mill activities including personnel assignments, shift coverage, and resource deployment to meet production targets.​
  • Monitor the crushing, grinding, solutions (CIL), thickening, and other mill processes for efficiency, quality, and troubleshooting needs.​
  • Maintain accurate operational and production records, prepare reports, and communicate results to management.​
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Technical Services to minimize downtime and resolve mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation issues promptly.​
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, operational audits, and skills assessments.​
  • Perform equipment inspections, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and support regular and emergency maintenance activities.​
  • Train and develop staff, providing performance feedback and supporting the development of operating procedures and work instructions.​
  • Support capital projects and contribute to the development of production plans and budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. High school diploma or GED mandatory; post-secondary education in mineral processing or related field preferred.
  2. 5+ years of mill/process operations experience; 1+ years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  3. Knowledge of crushing, grinding, flotation, solutions (CIL) thickening, tailings, reagents and overall mill circuits.
  4. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Familiarity with control room operations, DCS/PLC systems, safety, and risk management procedures.
  6. Effective computer skills for production reporting and communications.
  7. Valid driver’s license and authorized to work in the US.

Salary Range: $100-$115k
