Job Summary
The Mill Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance activities and reliability efforts for fixed plant assets at the Kettle River Operations Mill. This role provides technical leadership, directs daily work execution, and ensures maintenance plans are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals. The Supervisor partners cross-functionally to resolve complex equipment issues, optimize performance, and support continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and cost.
Essential Functions
- Execute the approved weekly maintenance plan (7 and 14 day) by coordinating daily work activities with the Mill Operations and Maintenance leadership.
- Apply Kinross maintenance best practices by using JDE (CMMS) work orders to execute and document work.
- Ensure work orders include required documentation; update status (including shift handover notes when work spans shifts); record target and actual labor hours and delays as applicable; add completion notes; and close work orders accurately.
- Oversee the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all mill equipment.
- Participate in building the approved weekly maintenance plan with Mill Operations and Maintenance Leadership.
- Work with the Planning Department to ensure planned work addresses HSE, cost control, and equipment reliability.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to support timely resolution of equipment issues and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Establish guidance on inventory control, including critical spares, to support operational reliability and reduce downtime risks.
- Provide input on maintenance service contracts and ensure compliance with site expectations
- Control expenditures and execute cost-reduction initiatives without compromising safety or reliability
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and input on associated costs.
- Collaborate with the Mill Maintenance and Operations Superintendents on continuous improvement efforts that enhance reliability, throughput, and overall mill efficiency.
- Maintain Kinross maintenance best practices and workforce competencies to support restart efforts and ongoing operational readiness.
- Administer the maintenance job progression system with consistency and fairness, including maintaining required documentation/records and supporting craftspeople in obtaining the training needed to progress.
- Complete Kinross’s formal Performance Management goal-setting process: set and document three (3) annual performance goals (and optional development goals) for own role, reviewed and accepted by manager/leader, and track progress throughout the year.
- Ensure the team are trained and competent in lockout/tagout, confined space, working at heights, electrical isolation, and other relevant procedures.
- Maintain compliance with Kinross HSE policies and applicable regulatory and site requirements, including required PPE and permits, and verify maintenance work areas meet HSE standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team; foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Promote open reporting of hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment through housekeeping standards, routine field inspections, and effective communication; participate in hazard assessments, JSAs, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Provide leadership to build consensus and ensure maintenance personnel follow environmental regulatory and compliance obligations.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline preferred.
- Trade certification or technical diploma (Millwright, Mechanic, Electrician) required or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of maintenance experience in mining, milling, or heavy industrial environments.
- 5+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead teams and solve complex problems.
- Strong expertise in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability practices.
- Advanced knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and safe work practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, make decisions, and influence outcomes in complex situations.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems (JDE preferred) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage competing demands effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mining or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with MSHA regulations and reporting requirements. (preferred)

- Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.

Salary range: $100,000 - $115,000 / year
