Job Summary

The Civil Superintendent is a fixed - term role supporting the Curlew Basin Restart construction program with an estimated length of 2 years. The incumbent will be a key member of the construction management team, reporting directly to the Construction Manager. The Superintendent will oversee all day-to-day aspects of civil construction activities on-site during the Curlew Basin Restart construction program. This individual will ensure that civil works, including earthworks, concrete, foundations, and roadworks, are performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the project schedule, budget, and quality standards.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and coordinate civil construction activities, including site preparation, grading, excavation, backfilling, and concrete works.
  • Review and enforce adherence to project plans, drawings, and specifications for all civil works.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure constructability.
  • In partnership with the Field Engineer, inspect civil works regularly to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Identify and address deviations or deficiencies in civil construction activities.
  • Identify risks associated with civil construction activities and develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays or cost overruns.
  • Ensure contingency plans are in place for critical civil construction tasks.
  • Maintain detailed records of civil construction activities, including daily progress, labor hours, equipment usage, and weather conditions.
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all civil construction documentation, including permits and inspection records, are properly maintained.
  • Act as the liaison between civil contractors, other on-site disciplines, and the project management team.
  • Participate in daily and weekly coordination meetings to align civil construction activities with overall project priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to the Construction Management Team on the status of civil works and any emerging challenges.
  • Lead and oversee all civil construction activities, providing direction to contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil construction supervision, preferably in mining or heavy industrial projects.
  • Proven track record of overseeing large-scale civil works, including earthworks, concrete, and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment specific to civil works.
  • Familiarity with mine safety regulations (e.g., MSHA) and environmental standards.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

Compensation Data

Salary Range: $130,000 - $140,000
