Job Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Business Support Manager (Controller) oversees strategic, administrative, and operational functions to ensure efficient business processes across the Kettle River Operations. This role partners with management to lead teams, optimize operations, and drive initiatives that support financial, compliance, and organizational goals.
Essential Functions
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across IT, Supply Chain, and Finance functions to support site and corporate objectives.
- Manage human, financial, and operational resources ensuring efficiency and accountability.
- In conjunction with the corporate Finance department, formulate annual operating and capital budgets for administrative functions consistent with Kinross’ established financial guidelines and business planning processes.
- Oversee short- and long-range budgeting, forecasting and operational planning.
- Oversee accounting processes and systems in compliance with established accounting policies, practices and procedures, including regular audits.
- Own the fiscal close process, provide timely and accurate financial, cost and management reporting to corporate Finance teams and site management, and provide departmental financial updates as required to enable data driven recommendations.
- Maintain control over fixed assets, ensuring complete and accurate accounting and compliance with corporate standards and tax requirements.
- Protect the company’s assets through strong internal controls, internal auditing processes, and adequate insurance coverage.
- Oversee procurement practices that optimize cost, quality, and reliability while maintaining compliance with company policies.
- Oversee IT infrastructure and systems to support efficient and reliable business operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and applicable legal requirements.
- Drive process improvements across administrative functions to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
- Monitor and report on performance indicators, ensuring continuous improvement across financial, IT, and supply chain operations.
- Actively participate as a member of the site senior management team to establish and manage overall operating parameters.
- Build and develop team capabilities to strengthen administrative performance, hiring and developing talent, and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced education (e.g., Master’s degree or equivalent) and / or professional designation (e.g. CPA or equivalent) preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in business operations, finance, or administrative management, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
- 5 years of proven experience managing employees and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, accounting, materials management, warehousing, and procurement.
- Familiarity with mining or industrial operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems, including integrated ERPs and other business management software.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions guided by policies and procedures.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid Drivers License

Compensation Data
Salary Range: $170,000 - $185,000
