Job Summary
The Project Exploration Geologist will contribute to the planning and execution of various exploration programs throughout Canada. The role will include supporting property scale programs, overseeing contractors, and ensuring that the health and safety guidelines of the corporation are strictly adhered to. The candidate must be willing to travel to the various project sites and work on a rotational basis. When not in the field the candidate must be willing to work out of the Toronto head office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist property scale exploration programs through:
- Coordination of onsite personnel and contractors
- Participation and oversight of field programs (drilling (core logging), field mapping, geochemical, etc.)
- Handling program logistics
- Implement/monitor QAQC protocols
- Preparation of maps and technical reports
- Maintain the quality and integrity of the geological databases
- Maintain budget as assigned by Exploration Manager
- Provide assistance in the evaluation/interpretation of data and contribute to the planning of exploration programs
- Participate and contribute in researching and compiling data for project generation
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Geology (B.Sc. minimum)
- Must be eligible to obtain a certified Professional Geologist designation (APGO, APEGM)
- Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience
- Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
- Ability and desire to travel and work in different locations for variable amounts of time (50-75% time in the field)
- Good communication skills and proven ability to work with others.
- Strong organizational skills and able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Experience in the use of GIS software (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of software (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Working knowledge of French is an asset
