Job Description

TReporting to the Financial Controllers, this role will be responsible for the treasury function in Mauritania.

Job Responsibilities

•    Prepare the short term cash flow forecast and initiate associated cash calls in order to maintain liquidity levels required to meet all short term liabilities.
•    Execute investment of excess liquidity in accordance with investment policy.
•    Process bank payments and ensure correct authorisation for all payments.
•    Reconciliation of foreign and domestic bank accounts.
•    Actively follow up on any reconciling items on the bank reconciliations.  In particular the immediate reporting to management of any double payments.
•    Clear the foreign exchange effect of purchasing non-functional currencies through the USD bank account.
•    Ensure integrity and accuracy of ERP and banking interfaces.
•    Act as main point of contact for electronic bank payment platform.
•    To develop and monitor compliance framework for accounts payable function in conjunction with Internal Audit and SOX documentation.
•    Follow approved policies and procedures related to treasury and comply with established methodologies and quality standards.
•    To support accounts payable to compile monthly reports for accounts payable backlogs, KPI’s and exceptions reports.  Assist in the review of these reports.
•    Liaise with head office for tracking of gold and silver sales through the bank account and with refiner (trade tickets, settlements, umpire assay, etc.)
•    Maintain bank relationship and ensure proper maintenance of banks accounts and bank mandates (opening accounts, closing accounts, signatories, etc).
•    Assist with the preparation of the annual budget as it relates to treasury.
•    Act as main point of contact for intercompany loans, loan documentation and calculation of intercompany interest, including associated withholding tax.
•    Assist with preparation of intercompany reconciliations and ensure cash settlement of short term intercompany balances.
•    Act as main point of contact for legal documentation relating to capital contributions and dividends.
•    Act as main point of contact for insurances policies covering TMLSA but managed by Corporate Office.
•    Ad hoc reporting as required.

Education and Experience

•    Degree from an authorized institution in finance, business administration, accounting, or other closely related courses.
•    A Treasury related qualification would be a plus.
•    3 years’ experience in similar role 
•    Fluent in English and French
•    Experience of ERP accounting packages, preferably JDE.
•    Experience of managing electronic funds transfers.
•    Experience of managing bank accounts, bank mandates and banking relationships.
•    Good IT skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
•    Experience of working in a multi-currency environment.
•    Ability to learn quickly and act on new information.
•    Conversant with internal control procedures and concepts.
