Job Description

The Driver plays a pivotal role within our transportation team, ensuring the secure and efficient transport of passengers, goods, or materials. Reporting directly to the Support Services Manager, this position encompasses the operation of company vehicles, strict adherence to traffic and safety regulations, meticulous vehicle upkeep, and accurate documentation management of the light vehicle fleet. Furthermore, the role demands flexibility in working hours, a commitment to confidentiality, and the capability to undertake long-distance travel at short notice.

Job Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to:

•    Safe Driving: Operate company vehicles with utmost safety and responsibility, adhering rigorously to all traffic laws and company safety and security framework.
•    Passenger/Goods Transport: Safely transport passengers, goods, or materials to specified destinations, ensuring their well-being and the security of the cargo.
•    Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine vehicle inspections, promptly reporting any issues and performing basic maintenance tasks as required to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
•    Route Planning: Strategically plan and navigate efficient routes, considering variables such as traffic conditions, road closures, and company safety and security framework.
•    Recordkeeping: Maintain meticulous records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents in strict compliance with company policies.
•    Fleet Registration and Documentation: Oversee comprehensive documentation related to the light vehicle fleet, including registration, insurance, vignettes, maintenance records, and vehicle inspections.
•    Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of company vehicles, both internally and externally.
•    Personal Hygiene: Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
•    Flexible Working Hours: Be adaptable to flexible working hours, as the role may require service provision during any time of the day or night.
•    Confidentiality: Exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality regarding all encountered information and conversations.
•    Extended Driving Ability: Demonstrate proficiency in operating a vehicle for extended periods, up to eight hours, with appropriate breaks as per legal and company regulations and framework.
•    Long-Range Travel: Possess the capability to undertake long-distance travel at short notice as and when required.
•    Fatigue Detection and Management: Recognize and effectively manage fatigue during extended drives, ensuring necessary breaks and rest are taken.
•    Safety: Implement and uphold safety measures within the vehicle, including seat belt usage, cargo securing, and adherence to safety and security framework.
•    Customer Service: Provide punctual and exemplary customer service to colleagues, passengers or clients, assisting with loading/unloading and addressing inquiries or concerns courteously.
•    Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to company policies, transportation regulations, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
•    Emergency Response: Remain composed and act responsibly in the event of accidents or emergencies, adhering to established procedures.
 

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Mandatory skills and requirements for this position:
•    Secondary education level or equivalent.
•    Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type to be operated.
•    Clean driving record devoid of serious traffic violations.
•    Proven experience as a driver.
•    Thorough understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
•    Exceptional driving skills, encompassing proficiency with various vehicle types.
•    Capacity to operate a vehicle for eight hours.
•    Fundamental knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
•    Ability to work independently while following instructions.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
•    High regard for personal hygiene and confidentiality.
•    Availability for night and weekend shifts.
•    Excellent organizational skills.
