Job Description

The Junior Communications Officer will report directly to the External Relations Manager.  The Junior Communication Officer will provide support in the production of various internal and external communications to ensure that the communication strategy consistently reflects the organization’s strategic vision. The Junior Communication Officer will also assist with day-to-day management, administration of media, and communication related activities.

Based in Nouakchott. Visits will often be made to Kinross entities (country-wide and internationally) as required. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Produce frequent media monitoring and media report.
•    Assist in producing content for media exposure, photography of key events, content for newsletters, including research/writing/editing, monitoring photography calendar, video editing, formatting and assembling content in appropriate platforms or applications for distribution.
•    Assist with the production of the Communications budget materials. 
•    Monitor and oversee digital communication by producing and updating content for TMLSA’s digital platform: internet website / Facebook/ LinkedIn/ YouTube.
•    Contribute to diversification with innovative contents and approaches aiming at enhancing Tasiast’s image and reputation on social networks.
•    Ensure that digital contents align with the corporate policies and messages and develop social media contents, which support or promote company goals.
•    Assist in managing media relations: administrative support for media engagement plan, site visits documentation, assistance producing fact sheets for hostile articles, key messages, etc.
•    Assist during site visits and support during media engagements organization and execution. 
•    Assist with supplier management. 
•    Ensure the production of communication contents: press releases, media coverage of company events, internet banners, presentations (PowerPoints, leaflets, posters, etc.).
•    Assist in supervision of archives of pictures and video databases. 
•    Support the development of corporate messaging, presentations, and other communications contents for external audiences, including media, 
•    Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of the communications.
•    Edit and revise content as necessary.
•    Assist in preparation and organization of events and conferences.
•    Assist in the communication of corporate strategies or messages from senior leadership.
•    Ensure internal and external messages are consistent and support organizational goals.

Education Experience and Skills

•    A Bachelor’s degree is preferential
•    Excellent grasp of communications principles and practices
•    Proficient command of at least two languages English, French and Arabic (Oral and Written) with a strong command of Arabic preferred.
•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar position 
•    Strong communication skills, including research, writing, editing and proofreading
•    Have good/excellent writing skills 
•    Knowledge and experience using digital tools and platforms to communicate,
•    Past experience with or knowledge about local media outlets and their profiles is an asset.
•    Excellent presentation skills and ability to produce messages or releases when required;
•    Outstanding organizational and planning abilities,
•    Social media experience and knowledge of best practices;
•    Ability to work as an active team player across departments and functions to support organizational communications
•    Detail oriented and deadline driven
•    Experience with/or ability to learn various applications and technology platforms for writing, publishing, design or editing.
•    Expertise in design and video editing.
