Job Summary

Responsible for carrying out a full range of functions associated with the mine technologies. These include, but are not limited to: troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mine technology hardware, equipment, and mobile repeaters by using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Required interaction with multiple departments including: Technical Services, Mobile Equipment Maintenance, Operations, and Information Technology.

Essential Functions

  • Field-test hardware based on results of communications reports.
  • Troubleshoot all reported problems with Dispatch, CAES, and other departmental equipment.
  • Repair field and repeater equipment and replace hardware modules, as needed.
  • Coordinate with Mine Technologies Technician planning group to schedule required service for field equipment.
  • Order necessary parts for service and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate record of spare parts inventory on site.
  • Return warranted items to distributor, using FGMI warehouse procedures.
  • Load custom application code, as need, onto the field systems via diagnostic laptops.
  • Troubleshoot radio communication problems in the field using a communication’s analyzer.
  • Relocate mobile repeaters based on results of field analysis in order to optimize system communication.
  • Train Mine Technologies Technician mechanics to troubleshoot and repair Dispatch, CAES, and other hardware on mobile equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience required. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • A technical degree with emphasis in electronics, mechanical, or computer science preferred.
  • Ability to keep accurate work records.
  • Experience in large mining equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment is required.
  • Must have own hand tools up to ¾ inch drive to perform necessary maintenance repairs.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions is required.
  • Experience with computer programs used by the company is preferred; Wenco, Minestar, periodic use of Microsoft programs.
  • Must be able to apply good verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills in order to efficiently and professionally interact with multiple departments across the site.
  • Ability to train other employees to troubleshoot and repair Dispatch, CAES, and other Mine Technologies hardware.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
