Job Summary

Performs entry level tire repair and / or replacement on all mobile equipment. Will be trained to operate all equipment and tools needed for the repair or replacement of tires and rims on all mobile equipment. Upon the successful completion of a 4 to 6 month training period should be prepared to perform tire repairs without supervision on most, if not all tires. Works under immediate supervision of the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates with Tire Tech 2 or other tradespersons to perform service, installation and repair of tire related components.
  • Identify needed replacement parts.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairing tires for spare inventory.
  • Performs routine manual labor outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Identify tire size, rim parts and bolt patterns for proper installation.
  • Performs solid workmanship with no re-dos.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • Basic mechanical skills with some knowledge of mining equipment or Votech School training for heavy equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and air tools.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
  • Shift work, overtime, holidays and weekends are required.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required.
