Job Description
As the Senior Security Supervisor, oversee the daily operations of the Fort Knox Security Department at direction of the General Manager and US Security Manager. Responsible for scheduling Security Officers, monitoring and evaluating their performance in accordance with assigned duties, filling in shifts as needed, and all other duties of the Security Officer position. Strong team-building mindset required. Organizational skills and ability to work with other departments while providing excellent customer service required. Responsible for the protection of assets and the enforcement of applicable company policies and government regulations. Responsible for the care and custody of onsite security vehicles, fire alarm systems, and condition of the scales. Monitor site access control and conditions. Responsible for the development and implementation of security policies, protocols, and supervision of officers.
Job Responsibilities
1. Responsible for all duties of the Security Officer position in addition to the following:
2. Responsible for ensuring security of the facility is maintained by providing training of officers on all security procedures, including drug and alcohol testing procedures, removal of company equipment, and emergency procedures.
3. Coordinate all scheduling related activities of the Fairbanks Gold Mining, Inc. Security Team such as BAT and UA Testing and monthly checks of Fire Extinguishers.
4. Respond to site emergencies as deemed appropriate.
5. Ensure emergency communication equipment is readily available and functioning properly or that contingency equipment is available.
6. Ensure closed caption television and intrusion detection system equipment are properly installed, tested, and maintained.
7. Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals.
8. Ensures compliance with company policy and procedures and regulations, including health & safety
9. Coordinate regular site inspections of fire extinguishers.
10. Ensure that security procedures are sufficient to ensure the assets of Fairbanks Gold Mining, Inc. are adequately protected.
11. Establish and maintain good relations with peers, supervisors, employees, and public while promoting positive attitudes, safe work practices, and adherence to safe work standards.
12. Set good examples, provide guidance, and motivate employees to work safely.
13. Attend site crew safety meetings.
14. Responsible for ensuring officers maintain required security accreditation and required classification.
15. Must support policies that ensure a safe, secure working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
16. Demonstrate professionalism and represent the company philosophy and goals.
17. Coordinate shipment activities.
18. Responsible for the care and custody of security vehicles.
19. Oversee the condition of the scales.
20. Monitor site access control and conditions.
21. Responsible for the development and implementation of security policies and protocol.
22. Responsible for security officer performance evaluations, promotions, and carrying out corrective actions.
23. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
24. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
25. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
26. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
27. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
28. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
29. Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. College or technical training equivalent to 3 years of study in mine / metallurgical engineering preferred.
3. 10 years of related work experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a closely related field required.
4. Two years of previous experience in a security-related leadership position with direct-report employees required.
Skills
1. Ability to successfully pass and maintain federal NCIC background check for ATF clearance to sign for explosives required.
2. Must understand operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements.
3. Working knowledge and skill with a P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.
4. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills with the capability to communicate in a professional, positive, and tactful manner with employees, vendors, visitors, and the public.
5. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment.
6. General understanding of mining operations, as well as a limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations preferred.
7. A minimum of two years previous mining experience preferred.
8. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
9. May be required to work shift work, holidays, and weekends.
10. Valid driver’s license required.
11. Must be at least 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the VP/GM and works with the Security Manager of the US.
