Job Description
Protect and safeguard employees, visitors, vendors, contractors, and company assets. Monitor access to and from the mine site. Operate and maintain security systems used in high-security areas, maintain written and computer logs, provide fire-fighting coverage, and operate fire suppression equipment and systems. Operate emergency response vehicles and equipment. Conduct on-site drug and alcohol testing and respirator fit testing. Provide security during gold shipments and all activities involving gold transport within mine site. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to providing excellent customer service, accident/incident reporting, monthly inspections, fire extinguisher replenishment, and new miner MSHA training as well as other assigned activities. Greet all visitors and answer incoming calls courteously, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper person or office. One must also exhibit proficiency in computer operating to include Microsoft Office, On Guard, and Lenel..
Job Responsibilities
- 1. Monitor online surveillance areas and document events in the logs and operate weight scales for vendor.
2. Conduct mounted and dismounted patrols.
3. Initiating Emergency Response Team (ERT) during emergency situations, coordinating assistance, and aiding the Emergency Response Team as needed.
4. Screen calls and radio communication to operate telephone switchboard.
5. Implement and support the company’s drug and alcohol program.
6. Issue and collect high security cards, keys, and locks and notify proper authority when irregularities are found.
7. Attain ATF clearance to sign for explosives.
8. Responsible for receiving all visitors, and answering incoming calls courteously, determining their needs and directing them to the proper person and/or office.
9. Assist with the employee bulletin board posting, accident, incident reporting and monthly inspections.
10. Responsible for fire extinguisher inspections annually.
11. Pass Alaska Class I fire extinguisher test within six months of employment.
12. Responsible for security procedures during gold shipments.
13. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
14. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
15. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
16. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
17. Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
18. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
19. Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must agree to attend a hazardous identification class with-in one-year from the date of hire.
• Must obtain a certification as a Breathalyzer Alcohol Technician with-in one-year from date of hire.
• Must become site driving certified.
• Must demonstrate the ability to self-motivate.
• Must maintain an acceptable attendance, performance, and discipline record.
• Minimum 1 year experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a closely related field required.
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain federal NCIC background check for ATF clearance required.
• A minimum of two years mining experience preferred.
Skills
- • Must maintain all certifications listed under Essential Skills and Abilities.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently, and as a member of the management team.
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Requires valid driver’s license.
