Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Job Summary
Coordinates and optimizes procurement activities in support of site operations under the direction of the Head of Department, Supply Chain. Responsible for the supervision, organization, and direction of Procurement Team activities ensuring 24/7 support to site operations. Directly supervises and trains Buyers and other procurement employees, as assigned. Provides training to other site personnel, both exempt and non-exempt, to promote effective procurement operations and compliance with Supply Chain policy. Accountable for schedule compliance as well as some aspects of the department budget. As necessary, performs procurement activities including but not limited to: conducting sourcing events, writing contracts, soliciting quotes and bids, commercial evaluations, purchasing, freight coordination, and customer service functions. Ensures all procurement activities are in accordance with corporate and site policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
1. Manage Procurement
a. Provide daily oversight, direction, training, and supervision to the Procurement Team.
b. Identify, document, analyze, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
c. Develop, document, monitor, and report performance against written expectations for assigned employees.
d. Develop, implement, train, and manage procurement-related procedures for the effective use of the on-site ERP system to enable effective purchasing activities.
e. Develop, implement, train, and manage procurement activities in compliance with corporate standards with a focus on ensuring competitive pricing for goods and services.
f. Analyze purchasing trends and capitalize on opportunities to maximize site buying power and/or increase purchasing efficiencies.
g. Interface with vendors and suppliers to facilitate sound working relationships to promote responsiveness and timely delivery against contracts.
h. Develop and execute continuous improvement projects within the Procurement Team to enhance long term effectiveness.
i. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business requirements and implications for the Procurement Team; coordinate and implement agreed upon solutions.
j. Responsible for ensuring all actions required by the company’s Procure-to-Pay process and Supply Chain Policy are properly applied and documented for procurement actions.

d. Develop, implement, train, and manage appropriate general and recurring training programs for assigned employees; including, but not limited to: Supply Chain compliance, safety, and environmental policies.
e. Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries and equipment damage, and recommend prevention strategies.
f. Participate in budget and forecast planning procedures; provide accurate departmental cost estimates, monitor expenditures, and document variances to budget.
g. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
h. Ability to exercise sound business judgment with a cost management focus is necessary.
i. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
j. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
k. Perform other duties as required.
l. Demonstrate professional ethics, tact, and courtesy dealing with vendors and internal customers.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience purchasing for mining and MRO type operations, with at least two years of that assigned to a senior purchasing role, is required.
2. A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as SAP, SysPro, MS Dynamics, or Oracle’s JD Edwards is required; JD Edwards experience is preferred.
3. A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
4. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, accounting, or equivalent experience is preferred.
5. One (1) year’ experience in contract negotiations and administration is preferred.
6. Two (2) years supervisory or training experience with hourly employees and administrative support staff is preferred.
7. Must be fluent in English (spoken and written) and possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
8. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.

11. Openness to occasional (<15%) travel to Tok to support activities of Manh Choh site
