Job Summary

The Ore Processing Planning Supervisor will ensure the development of the Maintenance planning & scheduling process; to include capital projects, asset management, material management and procurement, technicians, laborers, and contractors. This role will assist and support the development of an effective maintenance plan to include the operating and capital budgeting, life of mine equipment strategies, asset replacement and disposal. Reporting to this position are the Mill Maintenance Schedulers and Material Coordinators. This role presents the opportunity to have a real, strategic input into the development of maintenance planning. The high-level strategic element of this role means that you will gain exposure to senior management and challenging planning activities in coordination with the Mill Operations, Mill Maintenance, and Mine Planning groups. 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure work order management and maintenance tracking is up to date and accurate.
  • Plan and Coordinate approved projects and repairs.
  • Facilitate and oversee weekly schedule development for Mill Maintenance and Electrical group.
  • Promote and develop reliability best practices within ore processing planning department.
  • Ensure that equipment outages are scheduled in accordance with and aligned to meet production goals.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update critical job plans for major maintenance outages.
  • Create and maintain the annual maintenance schedule in alignment with budgeting.
  • Maintain up-to-date history for critical assets.
  • Keep detailed records for all Pressure Vessel Inspections, ground checks, and overhead crane inspections to maintain MSHA compliance.
  • Communicate with the Supply Chain and vendors to support all maintenance projects.
  • Communicate with Supply chain to ensure proper parts stocking levels and parts required dates are met.
  • Manage the EPL and APL parts program.
  • Identify concerns and potential issues and present them to management at an early stage.
  • Ensure the preventive maintenance program is regularly updated to reflect maintenance requirements.
  • Collect and manage compliance and noncompliance matrix to ensure departmental and cooperate KPI data is accurate.  
  • Conduct field walks to monitor production activity throughout an outage, comparing actual progress to planned progress.
  • Review data from NDT, Maintenance, Operations, and wear timers to ensure proactive planning.
  • Through data collection, ensure continuous improvement as it relates to maintenance practices and procedures. 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, a trade certification, or technical diploma is preferred.
  • 3+ years of related industry experience in planning and supervision preferred.
  • Must understand Ore Processing financial hierarchy and reporting. 
    • Fluent in the use and understanding of:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams)
    • JD Edwards planning software.
    • Collection and Interpretation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
